Hi, I am new to the forum thank you for letting me join. I have just purchased a DiBlasi R34 with non working motor/electrics that was reflected in the price we paid, however I would like to get the motor working. The first thing I noticed was the trike would not wheel backwards this led me to believe the motor was seized. On inspection there had been serious water ingress and the rotor was rusted to the stator/field coils, I managed to free it off clean it up but no joy. Someone has been having a go at the wiring, the circuit board inside the motor looks a bit black in places as if it may have shorted out, so I'm 98% sure it needs a new motor, I have been given a price for one from DiBlasi stockists in Uxbridge but I wondered are there any better upgrades I could fit that are more readily available.
The trike is for son who has Down Syndrome so we are not looking for more power.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

For others here's a link showing the e-trike in question with enlargeable views from front and rear:

Di Blasi e-trike

From what I can see the motor looks a bit like those that CycloneTW used to supply in add-on crank motor kits, but they don't appear to be selling them any more. Maybe someone else will know another source.
