Thanks Shemozzle. As ever I think money limitation will inhibit the good intentions. Through one of the links I saw that £40 millions are promised for national cycling route improvements. London's TfL alone often spends more than that on cycling annually, so £40 millions nationally won't even produce anything noticeable for most of the country.

As previously, most of the action will probably be the no-cost one of making life ever more difficult for car drivers to try to get them into public transport or onto bikes, and the links make some mention of that intention.

They could end up doing more for emigration than road safety, with the British weather actively encouraging that escape!

I feel that spending some of that money on Canal & river trust tow-path improvements may be more cost effective.
