Derestricted Impulse 2 experiences

Can anyone share their experience with a derestricted 250W Impulse 2 Kalkhoff motor?

I'm interested in speed and durability. It seems the same motor when sold in the US is limited to 20 mph so it would follow that running at least a bit quicker is OK.

Please PM if you'd prefer.

Thanks :)

thats the question none will answer dealer wise can they prove a dongle has been used on the bike. and prove it.

none have so far but if you want a dongle and warranty then buy 1 from martin i hate to say as ur only option.

what sort of bike do you want and how fast do you want it to go?

Thanks again... TBH I'm not really sure what bike, would need it to be able to cover 25 miles on full assist/fast. Also want comfort and reliability. Would be potentially covering 100+miles p/week.

I thought Kalkhoff because they seem to have a good rep and with some shopping around in Europe can be had for the same price as the cheaper ebikes.

I've seen suggestions of cylclotricity stealth etc but just concerned they wouldn't be reliable..

Would the Bosch 400W battery do 25 hilly miles derestricted with a 100kg rider?

i can go 28 miles on my bosch powerd bike if i keep it around 25mph in turbo on flat so should do that up hills miles wise bit slower.

the dongle just un locks the speed limit for the motor

That sounds reassuring.. I'd like a bit in reserve though if possible - would a 17a/h battery do that? I'm seeing some batteries at 20a/h... bigger the nuber the better right? ;)

That's not reassuring to hear lol!

Thanks for sharing though - think I will need to set my sights on something with a bigger battery.

I'm lighter, I could flatten one in around 12 miles in cold weather, it's very hilly here in the Peak District.
I can't match that, although I've done a battery in 20 miles in North Yorkshire.

Yet fifty miles is doable from the same battery.

Which demonstrates why the range question is so hard to answer.

Artstu, SW doesn't have Strava. ;)

But if you are suddenly saying that you do SW, then Oh dear! :D

For all your talk about dongles and speed, you averaged 8.3mph. Roughly the same as any of my really muddy hard going non dongle rides. The lad did well.;)

10.9 miles is the lowest that I have achieved from a 400wh Bosch battery, using eco, tour and one very short blip of sport. With an elevation gain of 6,362ft over 10.9 miles, I guess that it is hardly surprising, and I'd far from hold it as a criticism of the system. :)
