Good morning

I'm not even sure what motor my bike, the Decathlon Btwin Tilt 500E has, it's a rear hub that looks like a Bafang model. It has just a basic LED control panel with Eco, Normal and Sport modes - I'm wondering if anyone has any exprience with this and the possibility of upping the maximum speed?

My bike computer currently clocks it doing 17MPH on the motor, so I guess my computer is out - or maybe it's "faulty in a good way" already! ha

You can't do anything with an led so we need to see clear pics of the controller and all of the wiring reasonably set out to see them clearly , a pic of the main controller label to try and identify it.
Most likely no more speed can be got from the oem set up but we won't know for sure with out some pics.

Great, thank you for the reply. I'll grab loads of pics and upload them later today. The only markings on the motor are an etched serial number on the left side of the hub, which I'll upload as it might help in identification. There is an "ECU" of sorts (to use the motoring term) built into the frame but it has a sticker over it saying do not remove.

I'll get photos of everything and upload. It's not a huge issue if I can't - it's only a cheap bike for A to B really, I guess I'm just craving more speed in exchange for shorter range - which is fine for my short commute.

Thanks again

If it does a true 17mph or with on 5% then it's a pretty good speed for an oem off the peg bike.
If the bike computer has the correct wheel size settable in circumference (mm) then it should be accurate, a gps or garmin type would confirm the speed accuracy.

You are correct they use Bafang motors.
