The only thing you can try with that controller is to pull out the pin on the flat motor connector that has the white wire attached. Pick out the glue, depresses the barb and pull the pin. That will stop your speed display from working, which delimit most bikes. If your LCD has a sleep mode setting, you'll need to disable it or set it to the highest interval, because the bike will switch off when it reaches any sleep mode time set. You can get round that by using a speed sensor of a bike computer. Stick a magnet on the back of the pedal and fix the sensor wherever you can trigger it from the magnet. Fix one wire to the white and the other to whichever works out of any ground or 5v.

If your motor has 6 magnets in it, you can remove 3 so that the controller gets half the speed, or remove two magnets and set the LCD to km/hr for actual mph.

It's a crappy controller anyway. Make an opportunity out of a crisis and buy a KT controller for £80 to make your bike much better. You'll have to solder some wires because they have different connectors.

Firmware might be hard set at 15.5mph/25kmh.

For most hub motors the sledgehammer approach taken by many is to replace the controller/display with a KT brand controller display combo. at a cost of circa £80-100 depending on source and display selection.

A higher amp rated controller could supply more power to the motor if within your current batteries drain capacity. Most uk/eu complaint bikes controllers are 15a(peak power), 17a even 20a could be used. But battery drain capacity MUST BE considered. And continual use at high load could overheat a motor.
As well as impact on range.
(more powerful controllers are generally in bigger boxes so could require new housing etc)

Controller config can be a bit long winded reading through the chenglish display manual but you have full control to let your motor run faster than the current f/w set limits. (download n look before you decide..)

Just be fully aware of the ramifications, should your de-restriction come to light during for example an accident investigation/ insurance claim you could loose any rights and even incur huge liabilities, making a bad day worse....

We should have a subforum for all who ask how to derestrict their e-bike in first post.

Yep seems to be the main reason a lot folks join.
Instead they should do their homework and read forums about various hub or mid drive to see which motors ride nicely above the speed cut off without too much extra effort or none at all.

Not forgetting that you can loose your driving license too.

And having to own up to Car insurance companies in the future that you may have been done for driving a vehicle without insurance, is unlikley to reduce your premiums.

If you are in the UK why do you want to do it, ILLEGAL. FIRST post on a forum and asking how to do an illegal mod !

Throttle illegal also.

Why do others even post replies knowing it is illegal.

Because the free and open exchange of ideas regardless of the niche is pretty important to many people, Only when informed can an informed decision be made on anything..

All these posts and responses create forum traffic, which is good for advertising money to keep the forum going.

We should also have a sub-forum for people with crank-drive bikes and another for those with torque sensors, where they can get some counselling without prejudice from some of the more experienced members.

Throttles ae not illegal Saracen, you keep saying this and don't understand the regs.

Wisper bikes have certified legal throttles for their bikes, thay just need a simple check and pass at atest center.
Pedal first option is legal as it is not a twist and go .

The illegal throttle option is a full twist and go from a standing start to 15.5mph/25kmh, if you have to pedal first for a throttle to work then it isn't a twist and go. Walk assist is allowed so one can have a functioning 4mph/6kmh option.
