Can anyone recommend a half-decent clamp meter with DC current measurement (via clamp) for around £30-40? Thanks.
I'm trying to relocate the shunts on a couple of watt meters without any calibration pots and it's proving to be the usual ballache. I thought that tomorrow I might set up a constant load to help with the task and realised that the only meter I own that I'd trust is a CAv3 and I don't have an external shunt for it.I'm intrigued by what you want to measure with it.
Thanks for your input. There are lots of clamp meters available at the price point I am looking at. I expect they would perform similarly, but it's good to hear of any specific recommendations.Hi
I've owned two AC/DC clamp meters over the years (and a few multimeters). I spent £120 odd buying an impressive looking one from a Bristol electrical trade shop which died in just over a year.
I now have a clamp meter than looks almost the same as this one...

albeit a different brand I forget the name of right now. But it's possibly just a re-branded version of the same thing.
Going on three years now, it's as cheap and cheerful as it was the day I bought it. It's not great quality but it reports current pretty dam accurately.
If your measurements are critical, then look at companies like Fluke and their calibration service.
