Obviously pricy and no idea of battery ah.....but the sensor concept isn't one I've seen before. If it negates the need for brake sensors then it makes for a very simple, clean install.

A total weight of 3.6kg is pretty Impressive for motor, battery, controller etc

Thoughts ?

You obviously haven't been giving the forum your full and undivided attention Kirstin as this has already been discussed briefly back in September.

It's here if the link works but I have never tried to link back to previous threads before: Cytronex Kit

Sorry Tom ! I did miss that , I even did a search before posting.....and still missed it. Doh !

However, no mention of the sensor solution. If this works as described I think it's a game changer. Brake sensors are messy looking adding another 2 wires from handlebars.

Neat and original idea, I'd love to try it on real life. I don't believe you could create this exact setup . Yes similar motor and weight.....but you'd be stuck with normal PAS or throttle and brake sensors.

I like the idea of sensing the sprocket movement, but I have some reservations about it re the stability of the positioning. I'd like to see some close-ups of how it's held and where the sensor actually sits.

The motor looks like a standard Aikema (Q85, Q100), which means cheap replacements if anything goes wrong.

I also like the idea of the push-button throttle, but I can't see a need for varying the speed/power with it. The only time I use my throttle is for full throttle, though at least the variable power push-button gives you a backup in case of sprocket sensor problems.

I think £900 or what ever is not bad for a light-weight kit with custom battery and controls. A decent Q100 kit is now up to about £600 from China.

I still have the older version of their system and I like the rapid recharging aspect but the on-off nature of the power delivery doesn't suit my needs as well as my other torque sensor bikes.

My disappointment about the new kit is largely on account of the price which will ensure that Cytronex remains very much a niche product in a market which has moved on considerably from the time when young Mr Searles first entered the fray with his then almost unique system.

If very light weight is a priority, then Cytronex-equipped bikes are a good choice so long as large mileages aren't involved. Most of the bikes they attach their equipment to are fairly decent machines just above the budget end of the market going upwards and the weight factor makes them easily transportable on car or motorhome bike racks.

I look forward to seeing some reviews of the new kit in due course.
