Hi all,

I'm virtually decided that I will keep my lightweight Gary Fisher unconverted and buy a pedelec separately. I don't want to spend more than £1k tops, and like the look of the Stealth and E-Mate (MTB version). If going for the Stealth I would consider upping the supplied battery to the 15ah option, as I live in a rural area and would be likely to cover decent distances.

Opinions please as to which might be the better option. The Oxygen is about 2kg heavier, but they seem to be highly rated bikes.

Cheers,
Paul

If you only have £1000 budget, then the Woosh Big Bear is about the best bang for buck. It has BPM motor and 15AH battery.

The Oxygen is a nice bike, but is some way over your budget, even with a cash discount.

It appears the controller on the Stealth is bolted to the underside of the down tube, which is not a very elegant solution and could leave it vulnerable to damage.

I'm not a fan of enormous pancake motors on ebikes, but if you want outright grunt the Stealth would be the one to have.

You mention covering 'decent distances'.

I would much rather do that on the Oxygen which is bound to be less peaky and more relaxing to ride.

Thanks Rob, I have found the Oxygen for sale online for £999. It does look like a nice bike.

That might be the white one which has a smaller battery and a weaker motor.

Curiously, there is now no price for that one on the Oxygen website:

I would be wary of a seller who claims to be able to offer the higher spec one for £999.

It's £1,695 on the Oxygen website, it's their own bike making it unlikely any one else could sell one a lot cheaper.

The Oxygen MTB is £1699. I saw some guys getting a £200 discount at the Cycle show, which you might still be able to get because they told a few guys that they would hold the discount for a couple of weeks after the show. They discounted the Diva to £999 at the show too, but you won't get the MTB at that price except maybe the one with the smaller motor and 11Ah battery, which would be a bargain at that price.

Thanks for comments so far.

Yes, it is the white 11ah Oxygen bike I was referring to. Do I take it that it is not a good option then?

It's a lovely bike, but doesn't have the extra power that the one with the bigger motor has. £999 is a good price. I thought it was £1399.
