Hello,
I am fairly new to the e-bike world. My husband has a Powacycle Salisbury and is fairly happy with it. We are quite lucky that our work commute is only 1 mile (for hubby) and 3 miles (for me) each way. I'm not looking for anything extremely fancy, but rather something to get me to work reliably, and something that isn't going to have a lot of problems down the road. I live in Edinburgh, so it's very hilly, and lots of potholes and rain year round. I currently have a Dillenger Cheetah folding e-bike with 16" wheels. It weighs 27kg and has a lead acid battery! It has no gears and the chain fell off with the first bump I went over. I want to be able to go faster (gears) and to be able to go on leisure trips with my husband and be able to go faster than 12 mph! I've ridden his bike a few times and wow, what a difference!!
All that being said, I've done quite a lot of research on what type of bike I want, and have an idea of what I'm looking for. I've been looking at the cyclotricity bikes and they are in my price range, plus have features I'm looking for. I think the stealth is slightly out of my price range, and I'm not bothered about the LCD featrues or the disc brakes as I'm not convinced they are much better than V-brakes.
Here's my pros/cons but I can't seem to find much in the way of reviews on either bike, unless I'm going about it the wrong way.
Revolver: 36V/13Ah (50-60 mile range)
17" frame, 19kg (I'm only 5'2)
Step over frame (I would prefer step through but it's not a deal breaker)
Battery fitted onto frame where water bottle goes
No mud guards/lights included
6 gears, front hub
£799

Sahara: 36V/10Ah (25-40 mile range)
18" frame, 21kg
Step through frame
Battery fitted on pannier rack
Mud guards/front and rear lights
6 gears, front hub
£699

Overall, I think I've talked myself into the Sahara as I'm not sure the extra £100 is worth it for the extra range which I don't actually need (especially if my commute is so close and my husband's bike has the same range as the Sahara), and since I like the look of the Sahara.
I just want a bit of advice from those who have a bit more experience with electric bikes and whether there is an actual difference between these two bikes besides the price and mile range. Are Cyclotricity good bikes, or am I possibly going to just be buying a cheap bike and better off looking at a different brand altogether?
Thanks in advance.
