Cycle to work

New cycle to work scheme starts soon. However my employer uses one that appears exclusive to halfords.

I've seen so many good bikes on here since I joined but a lot of them are above our 1000 pound limit.

I don't mind paying the extra but I'm led to believe it's not possible.

So I was wondering...Is there any way around these 2 restrictions?

Check the small print as normally with Halfords C2W you can use a list of over 1000 independent retailers worth giving them a call.

If you are able to use an independent then I'll think you'll find most of them will allow you to purchase a bike that is over the £1000 limit with you paying the difference. When I was looking at buying an ebike through cyclescheme a couple of years ago there were at least two bikes shops that offered the option of me paying for the battery separately. So in effect the bike would cost £1000 and anything over and above that I would pay for separately ostensibly for the 'battery' but in reality I think it was just a way of getting around the £1000 limit. I suspect this is commen practice when buying ebikes from independents through cyclescheme.

As it turned out on further investigation I discovered that my employer has its own credit facility and as such I am in the somewhat unusual and fortuitous position of being able to buy through cyclescheme with no upper limit on purchase price.

My employer has the same limitation with Halfords. To get round it I purchased my ebike through E bikes direct who supply halfords. You can contact them to negotiate how to pay the extra then apply for the £1000 through work. I think I received a separate invoice through paypal to cover the extra. There is also more choice of bikes to choose from.
