May 9, 20187 yr I received a new bike from SportsHQ last week and the pedal assist kept cutting out as I rode it. I waggled the two smaller wires to the controller and the batter indicator cuts in/out. I opened up the controller case to see if there was anything obvious but was met with a whole raft of wires! Some plugged, some not. It wont go at all now. Is it an easy fix or shall I just return it to SportsHQ ? I don't want to invalidate the warranty but also don't want the hassle of returning it if its a very easy fix.
May 9, 20187 yr Look at the two thick red and black wires from the battery to see if they're properly connected to the controller. You don't need to worry about the rest.
May 9, 20187 yr Author There seems to be a black wire and a blue wire not connected .. I have taken some photos attached. No power at all at the moment.
May 9, 20187 yr It looks from your photo that the thick black wire connects with the blue wire. If the blue and red wires are in the same cable, then connect blue and black.
May 9, 20187 yr Author I was wondering that wheeliepete, but worried it might blow the whole thing up
May 9, 20187 yr It'll probably spark and make a snap noise when you connect it, but don't worry about that. It's normal. While you're there, have a look at the thickish green blue and yellow wires to make sure that the bullets are right in to the barrels. It's probably just the photo, but the yellow one looks a bit suspicious. Also check the thick red one seeing as the blue one came out. You can squish the barrels down a bit if you have a loose fit.
May 9, 20187 yr Author ok thank you , thats done the job. Its back motoring on full strength and not cutting out anymore. Dodgy connections !
