Although I still use my Kalkhoff Pro Connect I have decided to build my own Pedelec with a BBS01 (keeping it street legal in the Uk) and am looking for a donor bike. Ideally something light as I want to keep the weight down for carrying it up and down stairs as well as putting in on a tow bar bike rack

I read that the Gates drive bikes can be a challenge, or even impossible to fit the BBS (which is a real shame!) so I thought I would stick with a chain driven bike with an Alpine 8 hub gear as I absolutely love using it on the Kalkhoff. I found the Cube Hyde pro with a chain drive for sale used and wanted to double check the compatibility with you guys in case you spot something that may make the BBS tough or even impossible to fit.. Thanks in advance...

Mid drive will not fit the bottom bracket has 2 lumps on the bottom that are used to tension the belt that get in the way
Had one sat in the garage for a couple of months trying to find a way around the problem had to admit defeat and sold it  On paper it should be the perfect conversion :(

Thanks. That a really important piece of information for me

Been looking at the Boardman Urb 8.9 but I suspect they all have this issue you’ve identified. I just want a light bike with the Alfine or Nexus. Not desperately bothered with Gates but it would be nice.
