Has anyone got one of these Cube Elly Ride hybrid? What are they like?

It's very pretty (and green)

It's about the same weight as my current bike but the battery is in the middle rather than on the back so I may manage it better

Is there any where I could go for a test ride? I don't mind travelling

Where are you?

The Cube Centre at Infinity Cycles in Langley Moor, Durham, has - as you might expect - lots of Cubes in stock.

They are usually OK for short test rides.

As a general point, the impact of the battery position can be over-stated.

If the battery on a carrier is causing you handling problems, those problems may not be cured by a centre mounted battery.

I think you are wise to try before you buy.

Spec is here:

Looks a little overpriced if I'm honest though it is quite pretty in retro lady's bike way.

Kit is in line with Cube Touring 400 and you can get those for £1500 or less...

For £2100 I'd be wanting to see a 500W/hr battery, Intuvia display, suspension seatpost and maybe a 10 speed derailleur. The battery and seatpost would both make a significant improvement to your enjoyment of the bike IMHO...

If 400W/hr is definitely enought then here is a nice Cube step-through with Intuvia and suspension seatpost for £1800 (after 10% discount applied) for example:

You may be right about it being overpriced.

Sometimes called the 'pink tax' - paint it pink, say it's for ladies, and charge extra.

I'm in Ipswich

I'm OK with my bike - until I want to load it on the back of my car or on the train or manouver it with full panniers of shopping

I was really on the look out for a light weight bike - but so many sites don't show the weight!!

24kgs is about a third of my body weight and then if you add in a weeks shopping!!

But it's so pretty! and green!

My brother hates the way I buy cars and bikes!

A central battery won't make loading the bike on a car rack any easier, but removing the battery would.

I'm afraid there's no answer to the (wo)manhandling problem.

Ebikes are heavy lumps, no matter what you pay for them.

Some roadie style ebikes are a bit lighter, but they are not step-through, and not really suitable for carrying shopping.

Well, when I have it on the towbar car rack all the weight is at the back so my right arm is supporting more than my left - which puts me off balance

& when I pull it up onto the train the back end sort of dangle/dips sidewards (towards me isn't too bad but awy from it is awful)
