Crank bearing cage break up

Hi all , after some advice please , my crank bearing cage has broken up on the non chain side .
When i go to buy another set tomorrow how do i tell which ones i need , and could i do away with the cage and just add some more bearings of the same size .

Thanks Wizard

The same thing happened on my headset once. The bike shop just replaced the bearings without a cage. The cage doesn't really do anything, I understand that it just makes it quicker to load the bearings in the factory.

You might want to consider a "Cartridge" type bottom bracket set. If you get a quality one it need not cost a fortune.
You will need the cycle shop where you buy it to consider the precise size (length of axle) that you need.
Just hope that your e-bike has "English" threads.
You will never need to worry about wear and tear again.
