Hi all can anyone recommend a good conversion kit for my cannonDale 29er my trip to work has a few hills and I am 110 kilos also are there any companies who would do the conversion in the south West or are they quite easy ? I am not very mechanically minded. My budget is around £ 1000 .thanks in advance

The above coupled with a bottle battery is a good choice .
I have a Cannondale 29er with a BBS02 750W fitted and it pulls me up 25%hills easily.
I weigh 106Kg and carry 7Kg of batteries with me which gives me a range of up to 150 miles.
They are very easy to fit and there are plenty of guides on YouTube.

Thanks a lot for this I think I will go for a conversion kit as I have a perfectly good bike at home .

If you`re going for the BBS02 or something similar i`d strongly recommend your bike has disc brakes and front sus, .. also a 13Ah or higher battery.
Hi tommie is has both but please excuse my ignorance as Iam very new to this but why the recommendation is it purely down to the potential speed /power ?

cable brakes wont cut it esp if you up the speed from 15mph with the extra waight with the kit added.

i have 203mm front and rear on my bike.

more amps more power speed or distance cant have both so the bigger the batt the better :)

I use an 11.6Ah saddle mounted battery and can get 50 miles out of it with only using it on climbs on a BBS02 750W, my wife has a 10.6Ah on her BBS02 500W and normally comes back from a ride with one more bar on the battery indicator left than me...and we live in a very hilly place, just getting out of the house is a 300ft drop into the Goyt Valley and subsequent climb out:)

Oh...and fit a motor cutout to the rear brake, unless you like pulling your bike out of bushes...

....And...(before the Pedelec Forum Self-appointed Police chirp in)...don't forget that anything over 250W is technically illegal:confused:

My 29er has 160mm hydraulic brakes and they are ample for the job.
I live on the Teesdale moors with big hills in all directions and regularly hit 50 mph and they cope OK.

I've had local Police chatting with us and commenting on the motors fitted...and not one has asked the power output, all they want to do is have a go and wonder why they aren't issued with them (they have bulk-buy hardtail Carrera's round here)

Hi Kinninvie, out of interest what is your gearing setup on the Cannondale, did you keep the standard chainring?
I have a 34-11T 8 speed cassette and the first chainring I had was a 48T which was too high geared so I got a 46T which was slightly better but still too high geared for the local forest trails.
I then bought a 36T chainring with adapter but the chainline was so far out it would only work in the top 4 gears!
I now have a 42T Lekkie bling ring from http://www.brightonebikes.co.uk/ and its excellent,I was a bit worried it would slow me down on the road but it will still do 30Mph which is a lot faster than I average anyway.

The BBS01 kit can be got complete from woosh.
About £600. It is legal but can be made illegal.
It's enough for me speed and power wise.
I have disk brakes A definite fit to all my new bikes.

You could end up in very deep ** if things went wrong with a illegal setup.
But it is low chance of happening. But posibly big grief if it did. That includes post accident insurance claims being rejected.
