Hi I'm new here, I have a bare motor for an urban mover 36v elite.
It has a six pin circular connector, I'm unsure if it has sensors or not.

Can anyone suggest a controller which would at least run this to test it out.
Thanks to all.
Mr watts.

Pics please.

The older six pin hub is a sensored motor 3 phase and basic three sensor pins, one for 5v, Gnd and the third might be speed sensor. Most controllers utilise 8 or 9 pin connectors though you should be able to run the hub with the 6 if a motor cable can be used to fit.

Your main issue is will a Julet 8 or 9 pin controller motor cable connect to the motor or be compatible with pin lay out ?
Controller wise you can use a unsensored controller to test the hub if you can connect the motor cable to it.

Thanks for the pics, as I thought finding a matching controller to motor cable wont be easy or maybe not even possible unless UM have any spares secreted away.

One could use for temporary use insulated bullet connectors to the pin outs if one knew the pin out sequence , for that the hub would have to be opened and each pin tested with a meter in continuation mode between it and the three phases and halls to know the colours and identify which is a phase pin and which is a hall pin.

The final drastic option is to chop the connector off and solder/insulate the six wires to a standard 9 pin motor cable and insulating the three unused wires, then simply connect it to a controller for testing.

I could probably do that, I've actually made a bldc motor from scratch to power a scooter for my grandson, although i know little about ebike set ups.(I work in engineering)

I reckon the hub could be controlled the 'dirty way' with a controller via the three phase wires and. a throttle, in some way.
I'm sure I'll have fun.
Thanks,again.

Tbh it will be easier to list the hub on ebay rather then mess to much with it and but a a lightweight hub like an Aikema for about £80 - £100.
