Confusion on Controller

It's been half a decade since I have done much with batteryt bikes. I had a friend with mobility issue's if I could do something with her old tricycle. Well got motor cleaned up etc and bought new 36v 250w controller but it will not work the throttle can they be made to do that or not?
If not can anyone point me in the right direction please where to get one.
I had forgot all that changed a few yrs back so are now controllers specific for use with or without throttle or can they still be bought.

Rather than show us random internet pictures of things that don't match, show us a photo of the actual controller you have with the wires spread out and separated, so that we can see what you have, then we can help.

It is difficult to be certain with Chinese English, But "Speed steering handle" has a certain "ring" to it in terms that might mean "Throttle", don't you think?
Its a 2 wire connection, so it has a good chance (generally 2 or 3 wire IMHO)!
Of course, as its something you bought, and none of us here were involved in that purchase, so 100% certain we are not!
Have you attached a throttle yet? If yes, how many wires does it have, if 3, which ones did you use? That might be, guessing only, at least part of the problem!
Do you have access to and the knowledge on how to use, a multi meter?
It is very difficult to be of any proper assistance in such circumstances I find.....

thank you, it would appear that the "speed steering handle" has 3 wires but a different plug so mine appears to be connected the pedal assist function which is defunct on this tricycle with no sensor at crank or wires. Multi meter no problem to use. I shall be including a pic of the old controller as vfr400 suggested as that might shed more light on things.

Speed handling is indeed the throttle connector, Assist sensor is for PAS.
You can't willy nilly just connect anything up because the connector mates, If the throttle is wired up incorrectly then it simply won't work.

The only time you get matching sequence and connectors is if you buy the items from the same vendor, usually you have swap connectors and wire sequence.

The speed handling/throttle connector is Red/5v, Black/Gnd & White/Sig.
Your throttle should connect using the same principle of 5v to 5v,etc,etc. Black will be Gnd, if no Black then it will be Yellow, Red or Brown for 5v and Sig can be any other colour.

I do believe that throttles can be 2 or 3 wire, as basically its only a variable resistance.... Remembering something I read here, ages ago, some throttles, I believe, need also a 5 volt supply as well, but wait till someone else here KNOWS and mentions it, not just me guessing!!

Well here is wires on old controller and one below it is wires on the new one. The last is the wires on the tricycle, if this is any help for pointers.
I have sussed out the hall sensors one, the 3 for the pulse and 2 for the main feed and I know if I connet the 2 single green wires together it goes walking pace. Thank you for your assistance.

That's pretty straight forward. They have provided a link for the ignition wire. After connecting the battery, check that you have 5v on either the throttle or PAS connector between the red and black wires, or you can use the hall sensor connector. Once that's confirmed, switch off and connect all the motor connectors and the throttle for testing.

First you have to do the self-learning procedure. Connect the green wires and then connect or switch on the battery with the wheel off the ground. The controller will go through some steps to figure out the motor connection and timing sequence. When it's happy, you should see the wheel turning slowly by itself. Switch off and disconnect the green wires. It will then remember its sequence as long as you don't reconnect the green wires.

If you've got a link in the cruise wires (black and blue), take it out. You don't want cruise enabled.
