Hello i have been given a bicycle computer and it is in km`s only.
Is there some way of being able to work out the settings so as it will read in mph as opposed to kmph.

To get the settings for kmph is wheelsize = mm x 3.14

I am hoping that the very knowledgable people on this forum can help me find the correct calculation.

BTW i have a powabyke that is 2 years old but it still does the job nicely for me.

ta very much

Usually by starting from scratch Mike.

Remove the battery, then replace it. If you then see the km sign, press the push button once to change to mph. Then use a pointed object to depress the recessed button on the rear to begin the rest of the setup sequence.

That's for the Cateye Velo models, but many others are similar. You may have to press the recessed button to start the sequence after refitting the battery.

Then you'll be able to work in mph.

In order to convert it on wheel size you'd need to multiply your wheel size by 1.61 (I think thats the right way round, otherwise it's 0.62), it's unlikely the computer would accept the result though, unless it's suitable for penny-farthings :D .

Fleccs advice is a better option.

Thanks guys.
there does not appear to be a reset button and i tried to take the battery out but there does not seem to be any way of changing the kmph to mph even when putting the battery back in, there is also no mention of mph in the instructions only kmph so i guess i am stuck.
Anyway after fiddling around fitting it, the part does not fit my spoke as the slot it is too small lol
Ta anyway for the suggestions

Best start with a new one then Mike. They start quite cheap in bike shops, and on ebay they start at only around a couple of pounds.

PLUS shipping usually at least 300% of the base price - still a bargain though
