Hello there,

Have any of you heard of compact tandems?

They look to be compact enough to fit in my lift... and potentially legit enough not to have trouble with police?

I'm thinking of a good bike candidate I could use to transform to a compact tandem, the Dahon jetstream will wheelie if I put anyone on the back...

What could be a good compact bike I could transform as a compact tandem?

How about a cargo bike - Shouldn't be beyond your engineering skills to fit one out with a second drive train & 2 hub motors, Cwah.

This style of cargo bike would be more vesatile and more compact, it could probably replace your main bike. :) see juiced rider

Geebee, juice bikes are nice but waaaay too expensive. 3000USD as initial cost and I'll have to add probably 1500GBP more to customize it to my needs... I can't afford that much!!

John, if you manage to show me something that fits in the lift within 5 second I'll buy it lol. Lift is about the size of my dahon jetstream, slightly bigger.

I've found this bike:

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cannondale/hooligan-2-2014-hybrid-bike-ec054398?utm_source=Display&utm_medium=Criteo&utm_campaign=Criteo#features

It might be a good contender? I just add a rear seat rack (D8veh style: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/how-to-make-a-rack-for-battery.14308/) and that should be good?

Hi cwah,

A couple of things, what are the dimensions of lift I can get the dimensions of the folding tandem shown above when folded, but it would have to shipped from Shanghai as part of a consignment so it would take several weeks.

We have one leaving next week, but it is too late for that.

John, I was thinking of another type of tandem than the one shown.

I don't think I'd be able to fold the bike quick enough for daily use. Also, this tandem battery support is never going to last a year. I was thinking of a proper compact one such as all the other one shown here.

I can wait several weeks I don't mind. But not this tandem.

In that case cwah I don't know of a tandem that is going to be the same length as your Jetstream.

What is the diagonal floor dimension of your lift ?

If the bike was too long to fit in the lift you could raise the front wheel and balance it on the rear at the same as operating the lift:eek:

Yeah that's why a small cargo bike would probably work better.

I don't know the exact size of the lift (I don't have any rulee here in london) but it wouldn't be much bigger than a normal full size bike.

I'm planning to put 15kg of battery and 2 motors on it so I don't want to lift it lol

Yes an interesting find GB, the actual specification details are a bit sparse.
It wouldn't be practical as a passenger carrier for cwah and I'm not sure how well it would function as a cargo bike, it looks a bit Tonka to me;)

Having said that, I would like to try one for myself :)

The rear or fronr racks are definitely strong enough to carry a passenger. And due to the geometry I can see it quite wheelie prone..

The cannondale looks to be a better contender!
