Hi. We are a grand-family of expanding numbers and live down on the Welsh Rivera :)

In the stable we have had trek fx+ bikes with rear hub motors and rear rack mounted batteries. Lately a full suss Shimano hub motor ebike has joined the fold and this is a grin and a half. My dear beloved has ventured out on a ladies bike with the trek FX+ kit but she finds getting on and off a bike a challenge and she was less than keen on: the weight of the batteries positioned high above the rear wheel, the harsh ride from skinny tyres, pedalling all the time (while an ex club cyclist natters away oblivious of the miles rolling past).

So my task is to source a suitable ebike (easy step through, low centre of gravity, comfy ride and as versatile as anything to allow the kids and grand kids and visiting friends and their families to enjoy fun and picnics and our fabulous location. I think I’ve found a very attractive bike in the RAD Runner, but What sort of hoops would I have to jump through to get hold of a RAD Radrunner plus, with North American spec motor, throttle and gears. I’ve dropped a line to RAD to see if they can supply accessory components to convert a Radrunner but I am Open to suggestions and advice from the knowledgeable folk on this forum.

You might want to look at https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?rambletta as well. (not sure if/when available)

You also might want to check the US spec motor and throttle are legal in the UK. (Standard comment: you are very unlikely to be caught out if the aren't, but the risk is there.)

would the woosh Rambla suit?
easy step through, low centre of gravity, comfy ride...
36V 14AH battery, good for 50 miles, 5 levels of assist, very nice and quiet motor..

I've been thinking about a similar bike for my other half and am patiently waiting for the LBS to get the new Wisper Wayfarer in for a test ride.
The Volt Regent is worth a look too it was that bike that I first experienced the nexus 8 hub gears on.

It’s sad to see the state of our nation, litter on the streets, so many sleeping rough, heaps of track suit waifs waiting for the bad boy exhausts of urban misery dealers, unemployment numbers and the numbers of unemployable, multi family households and multi household families, journalists hyping crates which do two or three times the National Speed limit, sports cursed by fixes and cheats, local government taking bungs for grandiose dreams wrapped in red tape, central government so focused on party politics that national interest go to hell and Eurocrats intent on controlling the minute detail of every day. But thanks for the caution, I think I’ll risk infringing some petty rule for the chance to enhance our enjoyment of life And Anyway, they’ll never catch these knobbly knees... whoosh.
