Well, I found some perfect boots at long last that keep my feet perfectly dry.
Now the weather is dry, but absolutely freezing....my feet feel like they are going to fall off with frostbite.

Boots i got were Merrell Grassbow Mid Sport Gore-Tex.....had really good reviews on Amazon, and got them for just over £50 isntead of over £100...ive spent almost that on rubbish overshoes since June

So, looking for ideas on what will help keep my feet warm....I guess I have naturally cold feet as I bought a pair of Defeet Woolie Boolie socks yesterday for the princely sum of £15....and despite a second thin pair over the top, my feet were dropping off by the time I got into work.

Try the other ones in that link above then. :)

Eskimos wear their boots loose fitting. Laces and 2 pairs of socks will only serve to restrict warm blood flow. It's why I wear wellies. Other than them being completely waterproof.

Bin there, done that  I now use neoprene socks :)
Available in many forms from thin-ish 3mm diving socks to thick furr lined neoprene wellie socks.
Obviously the thicker the sock the tighter it makes the shoe ;)
for the colder days I'm using neoprene fishing socks and a pr of loose fitting lidls cheap waterproof walking boots (£11) brought just for winter rides
Here's one example

do you wear them on bear feet or put normal socks on first?
Good question
The first pair I brought were a snug fit so no room for ordanary socks but they worked ok with my summer shoes & kept my feet warm for about an hour on a frosty ride.
Now for better comfort my fishing neoprene socks are lose enough for under socks and my Lidl boots just right for this combo, I haven't had cold feet since :)

I always thought bear feet were tough enough, bare feet on the other hand would look foolish.

The hiking boots, on the left, have a gore-tex sock sewn in that supposedly keeps it waterproof. Which probably works great if you're standing on a side line watching a game of footy or rugger. It repels moisture, but it is not 'water-proof'.

If you're walking through wet grass, the outer fabric becomes soaked and the water ingress pushes through the gore-tex sock, into your woolly socks, and then your feet get soaked and cold. Add the wind chill from riding your bike and it will get very cold, very quickly. The key with those is not to walk through wet grass. Dry feet have more chance of keeping warm.

You might think that good old 'wellies' would look daft on a bike rider. In my opinion, they don't look too bad. I wear one pair of merino wool socks on my feet and I have an insulating insole inside each welly that makes a huge difference in comfort, with the padded effect, and warmth.

I like the sound of the neoprene wellie socks. Useful, worn under your wellies, come the snow and ice.

Wellies on a bike.

Riding like this, from 1:30 onwards in the video (watch the water flicking up), only wellies work well. They wouldn't go well with lycra. :)

The answer lies in layering, several layers of socks, best if you can afford silk ,but not to have footwear too tight ,the theory is trapping air around the appendage, OR just to acclimatise to the cold , which you will eventually.

Layers are best for keeping warm a Seelskin socks are good for keeping warm and dry used inside rubber wellington boots.
Best to buy zip up boots as much easier to get them on.
Know this from winter fishing, but should work for biking?

+1 on the Sealskinz socks, I wear thin Merino socks, then the Sealskinz and finally Salomon Gortex Mountain orienteering boots (with steel toecaps to stop toe breakage on rocks) and that keeps everything toastie.
