clutch parts bafang

There's no clutch in there that I've seen, there are gears and a freewheel.
What's wrong with it?
Hi,
in all Hub-motor with freewheel, bafang, xing-feng, tongxin and so on is a clutch inside otherwise you wouldnt have a freewheel ;)
usualy the clutch never go brocken. For Bafang, a clutch with rigth turn-stop and in left turn stop is possible, in case you have the diskbrake on right side of the frontfork or you want build up a chaindrive from a bafabg swxk-motor.

On my website is a photo, there you can see the clutch/freewheel and the way of working.
The Bafang clutch is called "roller-clutch"

Scroll to the foot of this page on Frank's website to see that clutch photo. You'll see that it is a roller and ramp system, in one direction the rollers are squeezed between the inner and outer and lock the two together.

The Shimano hub roller brakes work in exactly the same way, rollers getting squeezed between decreasing gaps. So does the freewheel within the gears on Panasonic units, though they use many needle rollers and multiple ramps. Here's the opened assembly on the first unit, the needle rollers seen within the cog:

Frank has those as well on the same website page I linked to above, this is his contact page to mail or write to him. You'll need to let him know which model number Bafang motor it is.

Alternatively your e-bike supplier may stock them, a number of UK e-bike outlets do for the models they sell.

Hi

Keywin (look for E-Crazyman on ebay) sold me parts for my Bafang. Worth trying to see if the price is competitive. He ships quickly as well.

this link is now not found. Flecc, could you give me more information on the Bafang clutch? the szbaf.com website does not have much.

I found a page saying business referred to ebikesolutions.de now. Here is the Google translated page:

E-bike Solutions

I don't know of any other source for spares other than the individual e-bike or motor suppliers, the better ones keeping the epicyclic gear sets in stock always.

The clutch/freewheel, same thing with either name, is almost always a ball bearing or roller with ramp design, not serviceable. You can see it in the form of the riveted pressed steel housing at the right of the gears in this photo:

Hi all,

the Bafang-clutch looks this way, the photo is an opened clutch from a Bafang BPM.

The SWXK and SWXB and SWXH havent a problem.
The BPM have some trouble with the clutch. The clutch dont go in freewheel
The SWXU have also a clutch problem on some motor, the motor dont go in freewheel

for all Bafang Motor it is possible to order a clutch as a replacement.

I also have the clutch for SWXK with working in other direction, in case you want build a chaindrive system with swxk. Or you need thee diskside on the right-side
I know the producer in china for clutches;-)

Good day

Thank you very much to you both, flecc and NRG. The link provided by NRG is particularly useful, it has a very good picture of the rollers in the clutch mechanism.
Here comes a daft question: has anyone tried to modify the central and planet gear assembly on this motor?
