Hi everyone. I've got a Claud Butler Glide 1 which was bought in July. I use it on a regular basis doing a round trip of 12 miles twice a week and 17 miles 3 times a week. A lengthy and steep climb is required out of the dale and an even longer and steeper one on the return and I can do it! I couldn't on my old road bike as age (mine) takes it's toll. Anyway even when I was young and keen I couldn't always do the climb back into the dale. I really wanted the 36 v version but my wife preferred the colour and price of the Glide 1. However I must say it seems to be very well built and performs much better than I expected. I still use a fair amount of muscle power, but nothing excessive and generally have 2 green lights left on the battery after the 17 mile trip.
It has though given me back that sense of freedom I got when I was a teenager and was given my first road bike. It also saves me at least £5 a time getting out of the dale and not using the Land Rover. Look forward to being part of this forum.

Welcome aboard DJH, and you are already part of the Pedelecs UK community. :D

Your statement above echoes my own feelings entirely, e-bikes are a great leveler of the playing field.

As a teenager, way back in the late fifties, I too enjoyed flying around the Wiltshire countryside on a bright yellow Elswick-Hopper road bike. When retiring four years ago, I wanted to re-visit the simple enjoyment of riding a bike, but I knew I would need a little help. Electrically assisted bikes have allowed me to once again experience the freedoms of which you speak.

I'm sure that others members and visitors to the forum would like to hear of your experiences with the Claud Butler Glyde one, and of course photos of your local riding area would be well received by the forum.

Happy E-biking, stay safe.
Regards
Bob
