Does anyone know anything about the Claud Butler "Glide 2" electric bike? It retails at £999.

My Hubby saw it at the York Cycle Show yesterday and was quite impressed, but , after looking through the brochure and looking on the internet we could find no information.

Shannons Cycle Centre Boroughbridge Road York were demonstrating the new Claud Butler Glide 2 at the York Cycle Show but at the moment they are waiting for the cycles to arrive in the country. They are due in the first week of August and they will have both the Claud Butler Glide 1 and 2 in stock then.

Claud Butler is a brand name owned by Falcon Cycles and the Claud Butler e-bikes I've seen so far have actually been USA Schwinn (made in China) models rebadged, using the Tongxin Nano front hub motors.

I'll be interested to see if these are the same.

Thanks for the reply, I wrote to Falcon cycles in Brigg and was sent the specs of the bikes and told they could be pre-ordered. At least now I know where they can be viewed. They look rather interesting.

Falcon bikes are towards the budget end of the market but Claud Butler is their 'deluxe' range. (The original Claud Butler brand has passed through a series of hands before regaining some respectability with Falcon). I've owned two in the fairly recent past and was happy with the quality. Cytronex do a conversion of the Claud Butler Urban 500 which, on its own, is a well specified £400 bike. It will be interesting to see the Glide electric bikes. If they are made by Falcon/Claud Butler (or rather 'put together' by them) I would expect them to be decent quality. The only Glide 2 bike I know of is a Playskool kids glider with no pedals!

Thanks for that!:)

G2 spec kinda sounds OK'ish but hardly gets the pulse racing........ But I suspect with only 6 gears and no mention of the make, or what grade of components, that this is just another generic Chinese e bike, bolstered with an established name...Sorry...NEXT!;)

These are very harsh comments considering you have not tried one,i feel you would be more interested and wanting to know more if it were sold by your own personal favourite dealer, the quoted prices seem very reasonable if it is a nano motor, and a lifepo4 battery version is interesting dependant on the warranty offered. .

Harsh? I dont think so, disappointed that is all......I have no particular allegiance, no matter what you say, to assuming such is ridiculous from banter on here. I would ebay my bike next week if what I really want comes along.......This is patently not it:rolleyes:
