Chirp!

Every twenty minutes, something in my house..... chirps!.....and it just did it again.

Smoke alarms, CO2 detectors and several other gadgets have all been checked. Obviously there is something in a cupboard with a near flat battery. But how on earth am I supposed to locate it if the flippin' thing only emits one split-second 'chirp' every twenty minutes!!. Why doesn't it 'chirp' at one second intervals so that I can get a fix on the direction it's coming from, bloomin' things driving me nuts!.

Maybe check clothing pockets in wardrobes etc for mobile phones?

Found it!.

It appears to be coming from the Baxi Bermuda back boiler in the lounge. Seems like the gas valve solenoid has developed a squeak every time the boiler fires up, this explains why it was never heard after 11 pm when the heating goes off. And so ends a four-day search for a 'chirping' gadget.

Wish I had a lounge! My Baxi Bermuda used to reside in my living room before I replaced it with something more modern in my kitchen.

If I could afford a fancy place, I'd really like a drawing room even though I'm crap at art.

I bet you're glad you got to the bottom of it Blew it! These things can be very frustrating.

Wish I had a lounge!

Just a play on words Indalo, It's a 'front-room' if you like, and fifty years ago it would have been a 'living room'. Be assured, it's not 'fancy', but it's my home, my castle.

As an aside, I am mildly fascinated by your choice of seudonym. Does it relate in any way to INDALO MAN?

Yes, Blew it, (Bob) the handle comes from that area of Spain described in your link. I keep a couple of mountain bikes down there although I haven't been able to spend much time there recently due to ongoing health matters here in the UK.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the "messenger of the gods" bit as nobody has ever contacted me with any revelations to be passed on to my fellow earthlings.
