It's been proved practical on bikes at least twice so far, and on an inventors recumbent trike, a home constructed job was good for 55 miles range, so their claims are reasonable.

Cylinders of hydrogen could be bought from BOC in the UK, but the high pressure pumping equipment to prime the bike's cylinder to around 1000 lbs pressure or more might be a problem. The potential for danger is very real.

Although our bikes aren't motor vehicles, there might be construction and use issues in this country (UK) when the authorities get wind of these, and special insurance arrangements might be enforced.

Leicester LE4, UK.
Another issue affecting fuel cells, at least in the UK and Europe is that I believe the definition of an electric bicycle states that the motor must be battery powered therefore a fuel cell powered bike would most likely be treated as a motor vehicle with all the attendant legislation. Pity :(

Clearly the time has come for Sir Clive Sinclair to invent a hydrogen powered C5, the legalising of his original electric one apparently being the reason for the issuing of the UK's innovative EAPC regulations in 1983.
