Chilcot - the aftermath

Featured Replies

It's now a couple of weeks since the publication of the Chilcot Report and in spite of the savage condemnation of Blair over his wilful disregard for UN policy, nothing seems to have happened.

Perhaps naively, I felt confident that the morning after publication, I would read that Blair had been arrested and taken into custody but no - the matter seems to be going the way of other crimes by parliamentarians in that the issue just gets further delayed, buried for years possibly and the gullible British public in the end forget about it. In my experience, if such issues are ever mentioned, people seem not to really care as though uttering hackneyed phrases such as 'all politicians are the same' allows us to understand how these things work and our lives just go on as normal.

Well, as a result of one of those online petitions that have found favour with many people, it seems that the Blair matter will require to be debated by MPs in the H of C. I'm afraid I just have this horrible feeling that the bunch of them will close ranks to protect one of their own and the prospect of justice ever being done in the name of the millions who have died in the middle-east and beyond, including our own military personnel, will simply fizzle away. That being the case, it will serve to reinforce my view that we are certainly not, 'all in it together'.

Tom

Totally agree.

Kim Kardshian will have had another "tit job" in a day or two and Chilcot will be but a distant memory on the minds of the Great British Public. Terrifying.

Just be glad her t*ts aren't as big as her ars*

Left and right boobs? Surely one of them is ok?

.

Like the girl from Devises who's boobs were two different sizes,

one was so small, it was no use at all.

Last line on a postcard please.

The other was big, and won prizes.

I see Lowell Goddard (the latest chairwoman, man or thing) on the Butler-Sloss, then Woolf, then Goddard, now who-knows inquiry has stepped down. Justice Lowell Goddard was receiving a salary of £360,000, an annual rental allowance of £110,000 and £12,000 a year to cover utilities. Not bad for spending 70 days of the year on holiday.

The bigger questions concerns how does judge run up a £12000 utility bill? Just how much washing has this woman been doing? What is the capacity of her kettle? Has she been leaving the outside light on all night? Amber Rudd needs to get to the bottom of this ASAP and hold an inquiry.

This morning's BBC news reports that we are to get a Sir Shami Chakrabarti as a thank you for saying that all is well within the Labour Party. Great.
