I thought some of you might be amused at the following paragraph from the owner's handbook for a Chinese motorbike as sold in Africa....

The rest of the handbook is rather better. It's not all like this!

'Fule, engine oil and axunge must preserved place of the children don't touch, and notice corresponding to warning nameplate in container, or else have danger of harm health with people.'

I find health and safety legislation confusing at times - it seems I'm not alone!

Yes, the Chinese are still learning and have a long way to go. I remember when the same applied to the Japanese long ago. One early product from there was the Waltz 35 mm camera which included in it's box the usual neck strap. The opening line of the owners handbook was:

"The camera is used while hanging by the neck"

They've come along way since then, and no doubt the Chinese will be as good one day.

Even a big company like Honda got it wrong. For about 10 years, every new motorbike came with a sticker on the petrol tank: "Preserve nature, Wear a helmet"
