Just had a ten year old kid waltz though the door asking about electric bikes.
Told him he'd have to wait 4 years.
'Nah' he replied. 'My Mum'll get me one for Christmas'.
Looking sternly at him over the top of my glasses I told him it would be illegal and besides, would cost her upwards of £599.
'No problem' he said. 'She always gets me what I want.'
I showed him the door. Kids these days. Think they can have anything!

Merry Christmas , Happy New Year and above all safe riding to everyone.

Ditto, love it. :)

Spoilt of not, who can blame a kid for maximising any advantage he has.

Don't be surprised if you see him turn up with his mum, I've seen similar happen!

I suppose we do all see these things through our own eyes. I can't imagine anything more embarrassing than travelling around on one of these with an 8mph speed limit on the road!

I know mobility scooters are a godsend to those of us who aren't as (natively) mobile as we would wish to be. Does this really look sporty? Mobility scooters are well accepted but there's quite a narrow line between acceptance and ridicule. Purely in my opinion of course!

Who said anything about speed limits on the road ..lol, a careful eye on the mirrors would be required. (but the 4mph pavement limit is very sensible)

Best price I've found so far is £2895.00

Personally I wish all these things would go faster than they do. I regularly come up against a small fleet of them on one of the cycle paths, where they form a slow moving obstacle that's impossible to pass!

I wish.......... These things are usually hire ones, as the council mobility scooter hire place is near one end of that particular path.

They are limited to 8mph on the road. My father had one and I gave it a go, it was terrifying at 8mph. The suspension is minimal and it felt top heavy.
Apparently, if you are not disabled, you can only ride one for testing purposes.

Pal of mine sells these things.

Tells me he's sold a couple of the king size trikes to customers who use them instead of a car.

The bigger wheels make a big difference over longer journeys, apparently, which makes trips across town of six or eight miles viable.

Of course, testing one of these vehicles is a serious business, not to be undertaken lightly. Common sense would suggest that such a test needs to last for at least 10,000 miles, or five years, which ever is the longest...

Not currently. Pretty certain anyone can buy and use one although I believe this loop hole is due to be closed. There are a few around where I live who are using them as cheap short distance motor vehicles as when they arrive at shops they seem to have no problem hopping of and going around the shops shopping
