Charging advice for SLA battery

I recently bought a powabyke with SLA battery and I wonder, what is the best way to charge it. Should I charge it every time I've used the bike, or can I wait until the charge level becomes low and then charge the battery. In the user manual it says that the battery should be charged every time the bike has been used, but the salesman in the shop tells me I can wait to charge the battery until I run out of power. What should I do to get the longest life out of the battery?

Hi Marcus,

Its best to charge everytime the battery is used. The lead acid batteries don't like being left in any state of discharge so try and top up when possible. Also keep the battery at room temperature especially during this cold time of year.

Ok, thanks. So they are just like the lithium batteries then, except for the weight difference :p

Yes, the weight is a major factor!

Please note its not so important to charge Lithium after every use as it is with the lead acid.
