The use of 3 pin XLR connectors seems to be common for this.

Is there a standard?
Is there a convention on how the thermistor is connected when one is used?

Is there a convention on bikes to have a different connector for charging to the one for use?

One reason I ask is that my Torq and the NiMH charger I have just received from Batteryspace use the same connectors, but with the sexes reversed.

Genders are often reversed according to individual designs Nick.

There doesn't seem to be any standard on charger plugs and sockets, but on the XLR (eZee) and the smaller NTC type (Powacycle, UM, etc), the centre pin is always used for the thermistor connection.

Panasonic do their own thing at times with a non-standard DIN 7 pin connector, and there's probably others I don't know about, but model specific plug in base chargers are getting increasingly common as used on power tools, the new Panasonic using one of those.
