I was knocked off my bike today and in addition to some impressive bruising and a broken bone, the chainset needs replacing. A local bike shop mechanic had a look and said that they didn’t have anything that would fit, and that I should contact the manufacturer. I’ve emailed Seago to ask about parts, and in the meantime wondered whether anyone had replaced/upgraded the chainset on one of these and could recommend a replacement part? I would be grateful for any suggestions

Remove the chain wheel and or just lhs side crank and take a pic for us, one would suspect the BB is a standard english fine thread used commonly on many bikes. All one has to do is find out if it is square taper most likely or even octalink. One could even choose the option of replacing the BB if it may be damaged and fit Shimano Hollow tech.

Pics are best then we can advise and one should be able to buy an off the peg set up or just crank/chain wheel set.

Here are the some common interface BB types used if one matches what you have (it should do) then a replacement crank/chainwheel set is easy peasy.

Thank you
I am going to have to get help doing that given the current state of my hands! my stepfather is coming in a few days so I will ask him to help with removing the crank. I‘ve worked out that it has a 52T (single) chainset and I think (based on specs of a similar model with a very similar frame and the same chainset) that it has a sealed type of bottom bracket - but that is a guess!

Not nice to happen on a bike as we are all vulnerable and at the mercy of some of the idiots on the road, glad to hear you got off lightly as I did.
Your wounds will heal and hopefully your confidence isn't too badly knocked.

When I was knocked off in 2019 ( a car T- boned me ) and hit the very end of the pedal (luckily), my LH crank was total bent in touching the frame. I had a spare at home and swapped it out within an hour and was out again to finish the errand I had just started.
I was also lucky only suffering very light chest bruising a scrap on the hand and a bit of a sore leg.

The bloke who hit me was a foreign resident from a Eastern EU block country and was panicked and shaken, being unhurt in the real sense I settled with him cash to repair my bike otherwise was off to the nick to report it, also had witnesses.
With hindsight I should have reported the incident and got a n incident number, any claim if I had made one would have been small as tbh I wasn't hurt to badly .
Hopefully you have some settlement or a claim being made, esp if you can't work or manage to well with your injuries.

Sorry to hear about your accidents @Cat20 & @Nealh
I'm also in the lookout for a 52t chain/crankset , thank fully for different reasons. Any pictures and possible candidate replacement info would be very helpful.

@Cancunia I think @Nealh will have some suggestions if you add a picture of your set up and/or details of the bottom bracket. :)

Re the accident, I am more annoyed than anything - and am looking forward to being able to use my bike again. I collided with an older person on an escooter - and he was going very quickly round a blind bend on the wrong side of the road (I wouldn’t ordinarily mention the age, but there is often an assumption that irresponsible escooter behaviour is associated with younger people). He was not injured and the scooter was not damaged. He scooted off too quickly to get his details…

In the meantime, Seago have responded to my email and have dispatched replacement parts. I am impressed with their customer service - although I still have no clue what kind of bottom bracket is on my bike!

That's good news that spares are on the way, good service and action from them and well worth mentioning and singing their praises.
When it arrives show us a pic and we should be able to tell you the type used.

I think you should still report to the police then as he did a runner, he hit you as he was riding illegally.
