Hi all,

I have decided to cancel the Ching Challenge on 14/09/08 as only 2 people have registered, i'm not total surprised as i have only had six weeks to organize it, 3 of which i was away on holiday. I will be happy to do something for next year at the same time. Meanwhile myself and David Henshaw are going to do the course to get some bench mark data.

thanks

Paul

Please see my post in this thread regarding this matter.....

I think there is a message there when nobody wants to join in.
The ching challenge should be to get someone to turn up.
Maybe its because some of the bikes carnt manage the range due to battery failures and then the owners are unable to get them fixed due to warranty problems that Manufacturer's last supplier, will not now honour.

Again I say lets really throw the Gauntlet down on a challenge.

1. Delivery dates honoured.
2. Quality bikes at a competative price.
3. Batteries that have a life.
4. Warranties that dont die on the owners.
5. Professionalism between Manufacturer and suppliers.
6. Basic respect for customers.

I dont think any Manufacturer or supplier would cross the finish line.
No golds, silvers or bronze medals here.
Lame horses in the grande national.

I think Powabyke would be in with a good chance, which is maybe why they've been around for so long.

Oh Sorry Tony.
The powabyke has always had a very very good reputation for great customer service hasn't it.
Just let down by a very ugly bike (my opinion).
Now with the new bike, the X-byke. I think they have a winner.
I've seen it in the flesh in Sheffield and it looks a great bike.

Hope it rides and ranges as well, so everyone else will start sweating and attending those customer service courses.

I stand corrected.

I hope so too Bob. The old bikes were too heavy and moped like for many tastes as you say, but that X bike could change things dramatically with a local dealer network and approved service centres all over the country.

I'd like to see a longer range battery option and also a step through version later, and with those and the excellent local service backup they could become the number one for e-bike sales in Britain.

Yep !
Come on Powabyke, start kicking some butt out there !
Some people are just waiting with their money.
I think a september release date though was mad.
If they had released it in April this year, I would have moved my money to Powabyke. Im sure lots of other angry waiting customers would have done the same.

Yes, but I suppose they started the X bike enterprise to late to make it so the alternative would have been a Spring 2009 launch. There's a good side to launching at a quiet point though, since if any bugs crop up they can fix them with few customers being affected, and I'm all for that.

Hi Flecc we will have a step through version. In total there are 3 new models coming out.

XLS 6 Speed low step through frame, 700c wheel and 15" and 18" frame option

XG6 6 speed as per the picture, 700c wheel, 18" and 21" frames

XG24 24 speed, 700c wheel 21" frame only.

I have pictures of them all but can't download as they are too big, sorry!

Not to worry about the pictures Frank, we'll see them on your website in due course. That's all good news and exactly what I'd hoped to see. With a range like that locally available across the country you should be looking at a great 2009 season.

Lets hope it is a good bike.if it does go on sale at £750 as hyped it will shake the market up a bit.if it uses the old motor and is much lighter it should be a winner, the old bikes were very good but lacked style and were very overweight, the new bike appears to address this and at a reasonable price, could we at last start to see the quality of electric bikes go up and the prices go down.
