Hi everyone,
Just asking on behalf of someone we know. They put their Carrerra Vengeance 2020 battery in the garage empty. Months later it is stone dead and will not charge. He is asking if it can be recelled. If so what company is recommended.
Thanks

They might be able to open it up and charge cell group at a time.

in general, the only repair on batteries that can be done is to replace the BMS (or protection circuit board). The only other solution is to replace the cellpack as a whole which costs 95% of the price of a new battery plus labour, totally uneconomical.
Your friend's battery should still be under guarantee, the protection board should have stopped the battery to be completely unrechargeable, so it's up to the supplier to sort it out for you.
In any case, don't try to repair it yourself.

Here is the inside of a cellpack:

as you can see, each cell is welded at the top and at the bottom.
Each block is interlinked to one block to the left and one block to the right.
The whole system is completely welded together.
If you try to remove any cell or a block of cells, you are going to destroy it and possibly set fire to the pack.

Sorry woosh, typing on phone and misread who originally posted. He would have no issue with buying a new one but they say there is a shortage and production bikes take priority.

How do you do that ?
Generally, hold the battery button down for a prolonged period of time until the battery shows signs of life. On mine (not the same brand) it's about 10 seconds.

Another member here recently had a response from Halfords about locking washers for a Carrera. Halfords in reply said they use a company called Moore Large for Carrera e-bike parts.

Moore Large list Carrera STL batteries on ebay (if this is the type you're looking for):

With regards to warranty they are not sure where they stand. He bought the bike out of cycle republic who are now out the game. He approached Halfords and all they offered to do was sell him a new battery when they get them in stock.

What sort of cost involved as previous poster say not much savings?

it depends as he custom makes packs so you can pick the cells you want and what capacity and price.

last time i asked it was about £350 for a 500w bosch pack so you wont save much but would have better cells as he wont use junk.
