As the title suggests, im curious. Does anyone have an idea of how hard it might be to replace the suntour motor/display etc from the Carrera Crossfire, and upgrade it to something better? Would there be anything that I might not be aware of, that would make this very difficult or impossible?

My thinking is that it would be fairly easy as the Ebike is already set up for this stuff. But I am not a technically minded person, so I imagine that i might be missing something very obvious.

I'm Just curious, would be nice knowing that I can, in future, upgrade my system when the time comes - If i chose to go that route.

Cheers Folks!

I think you'd need to take out all the electrics and start again. Should not be too difficult as it is a rear hub motor, but not really much different from adding a kit to a non e-bike.

I'm not sure why the e version is more than £1000 more expensive than the non electric version.

You don't need to change the motor. It's good, powerful and go give a lot of speed. First upgrade is to replace the controller for a KT one with PAS and throttle. Get a 36v/48v one so that you have the option to change the battery to a 48v if you want more power and speed.
