Hi

I'm after some advice.

The rear wheel of my Carrera Crosscity Folding Electric Bike has a buckled rim (beyond repair as very badly damaged). The tyre and or innertube popped.

The motor works fine. I would like some advice on anywhere that would be able to swap the motor on to a new wheel for me and likely costs. I'm based 30 minutes from Manchester near Blackburn.

Thanks

Danny

Say £30 rim, £20 spokes, £50 to £100 for the build and you won't be too far wrong.

Alternatively, identity the motor make and model, look to see if a new motor wheel is cheaper, sell existing motor on eBay.

I'm not in Manchester...

Or maybe now is the time to learn wheel building. Daunting, but not that difficult once you get into it. Then you'll have Matthew's ay £30 rim, £20 spokes and £0 for the build. And more confidence going forward keeping the wheel nicely maintained.

Rebuilding a wheel - Thanks to youtube step by step vids is so easy I mastered it within a week, and it only took a week due to my errors in spoke ordering (thanks amazon prime..) - However online spoke calculators do exist to stop you making my mistakes.

You will make mistakes and have to start again, but its only 30 mins or so to lace a rim up with a little practice.. ;) - i got lots of practice,....

you can true the wheel in your front forks sitting on a bucket to do this did give my knees a stretch but a few breaks to put the kettle on and wander about a bit solved that difficulty, so tricky bits are getting the right spokes and perhaps your knees if like mine they get a bit stiff after ten minutes squatting..

worth the £50-100 saving if you ask me.
