Carrera cross city a bike
Hi can anybody advise me what to do please. My son gave me his bike, He only used it around 3 times! It came minus the battery charger. I took it to Halfords and they told me that they charged it up but their bike has a five pin and this is a two pin so they weren’t able to test it on their bike to see if it worked. I took it home put it into the bike and it seems to be dead. Not sure what to do next obviously I will need to buy a new battery charger but the battery was only used a little could I get the battery tested? I did read here that the battery diminishes if not used. Thank you in advance Jan

If the battery charge port is only two pin then any generic charger for the correct voltage will work as there are no extra sensing/comm's wires.
As regard to the battery one needs to take a voltage reading via the outlet/diacharge pins at the base with a meter, if you haven't a meter then buy one for about £10.

Once you can give a proper reading we can advise from there once we have some figures to go on.

Some batteries have a sleep mode or I should say the BMS does, so one could try pressing the on button for 10 - 30 secs to see if this is so, otherwise as mentioned a proper voltage reading would be a start.
