I have a Carerra Vengance E-spec with Bafang bfswx02 36v 250w. the wires leading into the hub itself were damaged when I came off avoiding a badger, this cut off the power to the motor so it didnt work.

My dad managed to resolder and re-shrinkwrap the wires but was concerned that the circuit board in the motor itself may have got shorted when the cables were damaged. The bike still doesn't work after this attempted fix so I'm trying to figure out what to do next.

Is it worth buying a replacement wheel/motor and if so where can I buy the model I need?, I've looked on Ebay but I just find generic conversion kits and nothing specific.

Anyone with any expertise on this?, tired of not having a working e-bike

I've included pictures of the original damage so you know what I mean.

You can fit any motor that has the same connector, which, hopefully, is the standard 9-pin cylindrical one. Don't think you'll get more power or speed with a different motor. It might make a small difference, but the power and speed are regulated by the motor controller, not the motor.

Most likely, you've blown one or more hall sensors, which can be fixed, but is a bit tricky.

Thanks for the reply, the connection is a standard 9-pin so shouldn't be too hard finding a replacement wheel, is there anything you would suggest?, not fussed about power or speed, just want a working e-bike

If you get the same type, but just the motor without the wheel, there's a fair chance that you can swap the cores, which would probably be the cheapest solution; however, there have been some updated to these motors, so it's not guaranteed. In the worst case, you have to build the new motor into the wheel.

I've never noticed a lot of difference between different motors. It's the controller that makes them seem completely different.

If it's a freewheel motor, I quite like the Q100H because it's smooth and powerful and about 1.5 kg lighter than what you have. If it's a cassette motor, I'd stick with the same type (Bafang SWX02).

It might be worth a call to Woosh. They offered to repair one for a guy on the forum with the same problem about a year ago.
