April 7, 201412 yr Hi there, just wanted to see whether anyone has recommendations for a good rack to carry ebikes on the car or behind the car for taking with on holidays? I like the look of the Thule ride on 2 bike towhitch rack, but it says the max weight is 30kg, and ebikes without the batteries installed would be around 35-36kg, which would be pushing it... Might consider the Seasucker type carriers, but quite an investment at £250 for each bike, and not certain they'd be able to cope with the weight of the ebikes even without the front wheels fitted. Any recommendations gratefully received, thanks, and thanks to all the very interesting contributions to the various forum threads and categories, they are a superb cache of expertise and advice in one place!

April 8, 201412 yr Author Thanks all for this, took a bit more of a look around and fancy the Atera Strada DL 2, which seems very practical, strong enough and well designed; the wilco is certainly the cheapest, by quite a margin, but with a couple of ebikes to lug I'm inclined to entrust their portage to a Teutonic product! Will look the wilco up though before deciding. Thanks all again!
April 8, 201412 yr I posted this last year as I had bought the Thule Europower. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/nose-weight-and-tow-bar-mounted-cycle-racks.14709/#post-187992 The Thule is solid and should last for years but as I mentioned too heavy to lift and put on the car for my friend Pam. She bought the Wilko one for her car which is fine but we have not put both bikes on it yet. The instructions were not that clear, OK if you read Dutch. The clamp is a bit fiddly to tighten up and I have ordered a new socket and ratchet wrench for Pam. For less than half the price of the Thule though its a bargain.

Will look the wilco up though before deciding. Thanks all again! I've carried 2 ebikes on my wilco rack several times now without any issues at all. The rack is almost certainly less easy to fit than a similar Thule product, but it is secure once fitted.

April 8, 201412 yr Without meaning to hijack the thread but any recommendations for racks for cars without tow bars? ( or is this impossible do to weight) Looking to attach 2 bikes, one hybrid and one ebike.

Yes Artstu, I don't have any problems lifting or moving it. It also 'tilts' down to allow access to the boot/hatch (so long as your bikes aren't on it!)
