Can't Start Bike - Broken Anti-Theft device

Good Afternoon,

I own a GOGO JEDI, a Chinese bike, resold by a (now closed) English distributor.

My grandad bought it thinking it was a great purchase because of the sporty look however once he gave it to me I realised how cheap of an excuse this bike was.

The issue I have is that the key fob won't unlock the bike. I have checked the voltages and the speed controller & the anti-theft box do receive a signal when the battery is turned on however the key itself won't turn the bike on. Is there a way to bypass this?

I have ordered numerous replacement devices which have different wiring to the one damaged one and I just can't get it to work.

I really need a bike again as my license has been suspended due to my health and therefore can't rely on a car anymore.

https://www.village.co/uk/i/bicycles/electric-folding-bike-go-go-jedi-brand-new-sale - This is an unofficial link to the bike, I tried searching it on Alibaba as well as AliExpress however I feel like it has been discontinued.

Thanks, Max

How do we know that you haven't nicked it and are trying to bypass the security system, like the guy a couple of weeks ago?

Because I have had this bike for a long time, got pictures of it and even got attempts of trying to contact the company as I knew there was a throttle upgrade. I have all original keys, battery and charger. Just the key has stopped working after not being ran for over a year due to me having a car. It flashes blue but doesn't transmit a signal as even the alarm doesn't work. Now I have no license because of my epilepsy I need to use my bike again. I have used my grandmas for the past few weeks but it has no suspension compared to the one that is broken and would really like to fix it. If I can't fix it (Which I probably can't) I will upgrade to an ebike kit on my normal bike but that is if I find out when I can actually get my license back. I don't want to spend £600 on an ebike kit and then find out I can get a car again 2 months later.

I've personally owned this since 2017 because he couldn't use it because of his weight. He paid £1500 for it which I know is already a ripoff. I got it off him for £750 which my mum paid for as I was still at college.

If I wanted to bypass it, it would be a lot easier to just buy a new speed controller. But I don't want to spend money on a bike that might potentially never work again.

Yes, I've measured all of the signals, battery drops around 43v because I took out 3 cells because the connections were rusted from the accident I had on it. It started leaking in water.

Speed controller receives the voltage, as well as the anti theft device. The key fob on the anti theft device shines blue when I click it however doesn't make a sound. It usually makes a noise if you unlock/lock, alarm, or a longer tone to turn it on.

The light on the fob is a little worn though, I'm not sure if it's just the battery in that which needs replacing or whether it is the whole fob being faulty. I think if it's faulty then there's no fix as they don't come apart without snapping the plastic.

I can't understand any of that. What voltage do you measure on the battery terminals? Just give me the voltage.

After it sitting for a month not being charged, it is currently sitting at 27v.

I'm afraid that 27v value would indicate a sick 36v battery that might or might not be nursable back to life. If your 48v battery is giving that figure I suspect the battery is hopelessly dead. Maybe that leak did more damage than you suspected.

27v for 36v lion means the BMS has shut down due to a low voltage cell group or a knackered cell group , it may be possible to resurrect it. How ever to do so one needs to be competent at diy, the battery will need opening and testing first with meter to get 10 voltage readings.
The battery looks like a generic type bottle one so if one can't do the above, new ones are available.

The battery isn't an issue as I that can be not only replaced but upgraded too. Last time I checked the voltage when it was fully charged it was around 42v

I get voltage to the speed controller, and also get around 3.6v to the anti theft device. I think the issue is between the fob and the device. I just can't get my head around it.

What do you mean that you get voltage to the controller? You have to check the value of the voltage. It would have to be at least 41v for it to work, but even then only if the battery is good. if you only get 42v fully charged, something is seriously wrong. 42v is the voltage for a 36v battery. A 48v one should be 54.6v

I don’t fully understand this statement, have you actually removed 3 cells from the battery so it no longer has the correct amount of cells to work properly ? And what did you do regarding the BMS.
has the bike worked since you did this ?

The whole explanation is confusing, Op needs to give much better clarity of the situation and maybe some pics.
If originally 48v and a cell group has been removed then the BMS won't do it's job.

Does this mean you have replaced the 48v battery with a 36v one? It might explain why you are having problems.

The bike didn't work and I thought it was because of the 3 cells that had rusty spot welds. It was a 48v battery and I removed 3 18650 cells. I initially thought it was a battery issue but then I bought a multimeter and realised that everything was receiving current, and so it must have been the anti theft device not working.
