Can I convert a normal throttle to a reverse throttle?

My old Powabyke Euro has a faulty throttle so I bought a new one. Unfortunately it doesn't work properly because the original throttle signal decreases from 4 volts to 1 volt as you twist it and the new throttle increases from 1 volt to 4 volts as you twist it. Twisting the throttle moves a metal strip past a sensor. If I remove the strip, turn it round and put it back in will I be able to use it do you think? Has anybody already tried this?

The metal strip is a magnet.
Theoretically if you turn it around it should reverse the output of the sensor.
If you plugged it in to you bike without any change it would have powered up the motor to full speed without twisting the throttle so make sure the driving wheel is off the ground if you try this and also do this if reversing the magnet does not work.

Another member was after a copy of the Powerbyke manuals. I gave him some old links but they appear to all be dead, is there a chance of you forwarding a copy of yours to him?

The hall sensor gives 3v when no magnets are present, 4.2v when a north facing one is up against it, and 1.8v with a south facing magnet. Look at your magnet arrangement and swap them the other way round.

I cut a little nick into the plastic next to the end of the metal strip and I was pleased how easy it was to lever out with a small screwdriver. It's now in the other way round but I won't really be able to test it until I've replaced the defective FET on the control board.

Well, my replacement MOSFET didn't fix the controller so I sent it away for repair. It's back now but it still shows a fault for the new throttle with the reversed strip of metal. I've dismantled the original Powabyke throttle to discover that it doesn't have a continuous strip, but rather two separate magnets with a gap between them. I'm beginning to wonder whether it's possible to modify my new throttle to work with this old Powabyke.
