Camera broke. :(

I was out today for my usual Saturday morning cycle with my grandson. My camera decided to drop off my bike and is now defunct. I think I'd best buy a new camera.

Personally, I wouldn't get anything other than a GoPro for outdoor use. They are built to withstand all the knocks you can reasonably give them. Broken and damaged too many cheaper cameras along the way in one way or another !

The LiFePO4 battery died in my MD80 after 3 years..just weeks after I bought a new class 10 card for it and found it useful for filming bike rides after all! I've just taken it apart and i'm going to try and make an external battery pack for it, so it will film for much longer if it works.

Haven't tried that one, but I use the act20 action cam.

720p resolution, about £50.00 to 55.00 with 16g sd card, from hk/china.

Mine works well: battery lasts 3 - 4 hours, card takes 3 hours video in 20 min files, so you can find the clip you want easily.

Video quality very useable if its not panning really fast, as it's only 30fps.

Seems fairly robust, although I've only dropped mine when carrying my 'ard 'at, not from the bike.... Yet.

I've no idea what's broken. It fell out of the mount and landed on the ground. When you try to switch it on it does nothing. If I connect it to the computer and switch it on, the wee light goes red instead of the blue it used to. The computer then tells me it can't recognise it and I should disconnect and retry.

It's a veho muvi thing so it's not expensive. I just fancied trying something different

The camera you linked to is simply not worth that much money, the most I would pay for that cam is around £30-£40. I have one, and I can assure you it is not 720p. I still use it though, usually in the suicide position under the bottom bracket. A safety lanyard should always be used on cams, even if it's just an old shoe-lace.

I've just finished editing another video which I will upload tomorrow.

What I would suggest, is have a look at the reviews by "Techmoan" on Youtube. This guy calls a spade a spade when reviewing various cams. The cams are tested extensively, including photo mode and mobile operation on motorcycles and cars.

I think he has tested just about all currently available cams, and I would strongly recommend anybody contemplating purchasing a cam to read his review first.

The resolution of that camera is only 640 x 480. You should be aiming at a full 1080P camera at that price.
This is the one that I use, which lasts about 2 1/2 hours recording at 1080p with one battery. It has a swivel lens so that you can have upright images with the camera sideways. It has an LCD screen so you can see what you're recording in real time (not easy to see in bright sunlight. Images are so clear that you can read a car numberplate at about 100 ft. I posted some images from it about 9 months ago, but no video host can show the video in 1080p, so you can't see how good it is. This camera is made of a rubbery stuff, so should bounce well too. You get two batteries with the camera for about 5 hours of recording and loads of helmet and bike mounts.

Mine came with safety lanyard also....just make one up. Not to long! As don't want to snag it.....

my contour roam very easy to use, can even operate with winter gloves on.
