So....its snowy and slippery here in London and I just came off my Brompton. NOT because of the snow, a flippin white van just took me out!

Ripped trousers and a grazed leg, bike seems ok thank god.

blimey Benjy, forget the Brompton, its your bodywork that counts

when I came off my Brompton, it was a speed hump in Spain that took me out, as i wasn't gripping the bars tight enough.....end of the brake lever cracked a rib, and I broke 3 front teeth when my face hit the ground, plus broken specs....
Brompton was FINE......thank god, ha-ha

glad both you and bike are largely OK

I came into work today 3 miles and drop of 300m

Then it has snowed like mad here in Brighton

Dont fancy chances of getting back up than 1 in 5 hill !

I'm looking forward to trying my 2 wheel drive Rocky mountain in the snow. It had really good traction on steep slippery wet grass and mud. I hope it's the same on snow.

Wheeled my bouncer out of the workshop yesterday; stood on one pedal to scoot it up th garden path; blipped the throttle....

High-sided, sprawled over the frame & had to extricate self from a rhododendron

Had a quick look round to make sure none of the neighbors were in earshot of the ensuing robust expression; carried on as if nothing had occurred, rubbing scraped forearm......

And it's not even snowing down here - just the usual manky wet

I came off my Brompton on a speed hump when a pedal caught the hump.

I should have gone over with the pedals level.

Happily, the Brommie was undamaged, they are good, sturdy bikes.

Yes they seem very strong luckily, the van didn't see me cycling along in the opposite direction (1000 lumen light and high vis jacket are quite hard to spot) , he then turned right across my path and basically drove into me head on. Knocked me flying, bike went under the front of the van!

The only reason it wasn't worse was because the point of impact was quite slow, I was going at about half normal speed due to the snow, I saw that he hadn't seen me and managed to swerve slightly as I screamed at him, I think due to me shouting he was braking as he hit me.

So I'm grateful it wasn't worse, bike has a slightly bent mudguard, not bad considering it slid along a road and went under a van!

Really lucky - and glad you didn't sprain or break anything. Horrid shock all the same .. really sorry to hear about this. The delivery bregade seem even more manic than usual.

I shouldn't laugh, but .... pity you didn't have it on film. Could have made £100 off that I'm sure :)

The irony is that he was a workman employed to grit people's driveways to stop them falling over!

Sorry to hear that Ben but glad you're ok. It's terrible out there today, I can't imagine walking anywhere, let alone riding!! I guess I'm lucky I don't have to ride to work.
