Hi, I have a 3kw motor on my bike and I just noticed that the wire coming from it has not fully snapped off but the outside casing has been cut and looks like the green wire is slightly exposed.
If it does snap off completely would it be possible to remove the motor casing then could I add some same gauge wire to the cut wires and crimp them or would that be a disaster as the same thing happened to my 1000w motor and still haven't fixed it? Thanks for the replys
The bike still works fine for now no issues

As long as the inner wire sheath is not exposing the inner copper cores you should be fine if poss bind the outer wire with tape to stop moisture.
Rewiring is possible but not a 5 minute job, use the 1kw hub as practice to see what is involved.

The way to repair it is to pull the wire through, cut off the damaged bit and desolder it from the motor, then solder on the good bit. it'll make the cable about8" shorter. That's not normally a problem, but if it is, you'd have to extend the other end. You cannot crimp phase wires unless you have professional equipment. They should be soldered.

Ok thank you I'll see what happens as when I initially set off it sounds like it's sparking next to the motor but it only makes the sound once so not sure if it's a spark or not but I'll investigate before I ride it again lol
