British cycling membership

I’m looking at joining British cycling (mainly to get the discount at Halfords). In the sign up is a ‘referred by’ box to enter another members number. Does anyone know if this give the referrer or me any particular benefits above simply joining. I don’t know anyone personally that I could add here.

Not sure about that, but did you know you get it free if you have a HSBC account? I've just this afternoon cancelled my direct debit that was due in Dec.

Just checked and it says that if a friend refers you, you get £10 off. You need to use the code MEMFRND and my membership no 1395254.
