Just to update on my earlier battery problems... Everything is fine now, and both my Wisper and their after-sales service are brilliant.

I'm so glad I discovered this forum before I bought my bike - I think I could have been easily misled by some of the claims of the less reputable manufacturers who offer zero after-sales, but the posts on here were very reassuring about Wisper. I may have been a little frustrated at the early glitch, but I didn't have a moments concern that everything would be promptly sorted.

You can probably tell by the tone of this post that I'm really happy - this is because not only is my battery all fine now, but the postman brought me a fabulous Wisper pannier set today! (Thanks David!) That really is A+ service. :)

I just don't understand why you are saying ''Zero after sales'' . The fact that Wisper offers after sales service does not mean that other manufacturers don't do it!!! What about Powabyke, Powacycle, 50 Cycles, Ezee and so on. Do you really think you get nil from them? Well, if you bought something on Ebay for £400 then don't expect much but if we are talking about the over £1000 bike you will always get the right service.

Hi Priscilla,

I'm a retailer running Electric Bike Shed and i do sell many brands including Wispers (good choice that you made) as well as Powacycle, Oxygen and Ultra Motor. In any case of these brands when I needed a help to sort out the problem for the customer all of them were so helpful and quick in response to me. I really have to say that the great service was provided by every single one of them.

I would therefore say that this is not true that other brands don't care about their customers and believe me that is something I experienced myself in practice.

If you bought a Wisper than you certainly made a good choice. If you would buy a Powacycle, Oxygen or Ultra Motor you would also made a great choice as all of these carry a different price tag and have totally different appeal.

Powacycle is a good value and great entry to ebikes world.

Oxygen - also a great value but better finished parts and bit different appeal.

Ultra Motor - just a love and fun and pleasure of speed. One of my favourite ones but sadly with £2000 price tag :-(

Wisper = Toyota = a great support and reliability

but i can assure you all of them offer a great support

Hi Alex and Andy

It would be a sad thing if we were the only company providing A+ service! The truth is that many other companies have lifted their game over the last couple of years which I think is fantastic for the industry. Both your comments carried slightly disgruntled undertones which I didn't understand.

And Priscilla thanks for your kind comments, I really appreciate you taking the time to post. :)

Best regards

David

I think we need to remember the difference between manufacturer and retailer, 50 cycles is a retailer that provides good service, the manufacturers listed mostly provide good support to the retailers and often direct support to the customers on this site.
There are other good retailers out there, not just 50 cycles but they are all vulnerable to occasional bad choices of manufacturers. Ideally you need to pair a good retailer with a good manufacturer to get the best service.

I would agree. Good after-sales is not the sole premise of Wisper, although they do seem exemplary in this respect. We do have our own 'homegrown" manufacturer/assembler/retailer who also provide great after-sales. Mark and his team at Cytronex...
'course I may be biased insofar as I live quite close by :)

As David says, the game has been raised in all aspects of service, and he and his company have been an important part in bringing that about

With a few honourable exceptions, as little as three to four years ago service standards were frankly more often than not bad and all too often appalling, the posts in this forum showing that only too clearly. The biggest improvements have come about only in the last two years so there's still much posting history giving a very bad impression of service standards. It's this that can lead many like Priscilla to get a bad impression of the industry overall.

Another important factor in bringing about the improvements has been the creation of dedicated multi-brand e-bike suppliers who realise the importance of both choice and good service and offer both in a number of parts of the Britain now.

Britain is now one of the best served e-biking countries in the world, only the Netherlands, Germany and China doing as well or better, judging from the communications for help that I get from e-bikers around the world via my three websites.

Oh goodness, I didn't intend to stir up such controversy!

Just to be clear - I did say "less reputable manufacturers" I'm well aware now from reading this forum that there are several fine companies. However - "try before you buy" was something else I learned here so my choice was to some degree constrained by what was available within a reasonable travelling distance.

Alex mentioned that paying over £1000 will ensure a good bike.......but that is exactly the point. Like many uniformed buyers I was originally looking for the cheapest bike possible that claimed to do what I needed. I planned to spend £300 - £400. I'm not bike-savvy enough to know good from bad components. That was what led me here - to see if I could get an overview before I took the plunge. Reading the posts led me have a radical re-think.
I'm delighted I upped my budget and chose a Wisper.

Finally - do remember, I WAS posting in the Wisper Bikes Clinic section of the forum - I'm sure I'm allowed to be a tad biased there!;)

Hi David,

Great to hear from you, yes indeed, it would be very sad if you were the only one who care about the customers after sales. My comment was certainly not with disgruntled undertone but rather had more defensive character for the industry. As the independent bike retailer I wanted to clarify that all the brands i represent did offer excellent A+ service and i apparently i had to deal with all of them on the service issues. Trust me i do respect your brand and i think you do right things but the feeling i got from Priscilla was rather taken by me as the endorsement of one brand and criticising the rest of the industry for not doing anything once the sale's been made.

For Priscilla i can only say to feel free to endorse your favourite brand as long as you don't harm the rest of the industry unless you have had the real and poor experience with a certain brand, many thanks and.

I am 100% with you Mutiny Mark and his crew are fantastic they make a great bike and would go to the ends of the earth to look after their customers.

Cytronex reach all the criteria needed to become a BEBA member and invitations will be going out to them and many other electric bike companies to join within the next couple of weeks. The ethos of Wisper is to raise awareness of electric bikes in the community and to give confidence to potential buyers that they are spending their hard earned cash with a company that will give A+ service. Fortunately there are now many such businesses in the UK and I in my capacity as Chairman of BEBA will be promoting them all.

All the best David
