Brexit, for once some facts.

Think about him and mc donnel's manifesto.
I remember very well how Emily Thornberry talked about it after losing the election. They (JC and McDonnell) were making up everyday more promises - so much so that none of the members of the shadow cabinet could remember what was already promised before.
Did you remember the free broadband offer?

I was going for a walk the other day and along came a chap I know on a really nice top of the range Specialized full suspension pedelec. I asked him what size battery was in it and he told me it was 730 wh, made by Tesla.

I had no idea Tesla made e-bike batteries has anyone here heard about this? If this chap is correct about it being a Tesla battery do you think it might lead to a reduction in e-bike batteries if Tesla start to manufacture them at large scale?
I've got a (very old, rather cheap) tesla, and one thing I gather from the experience is that sticking to the 20% - 80% (as opposed to much higher levels of charge/discharge of relatively lighter bike batteries)rule can make most batteries last practically forever.

That wasn't the manifesto - it was trying to play a populist game in a shamelessly populist country in the death knell of an election.

I just look a bit further down the line.
The anti-semitism saga was the stick the media beat Labour with. JC thinks/thought rightly or wrongly that it's a tiny problem because it does not compare with other issues.
When the election came, it's clear that JC lacked credibility because he has not sorted it.
If he could not solve a 'small problem' (according to him) then how can he be expected to solve bigger state problems?
Can you see the inconsistency of your argument?
No, because I am not making that argument. Corbyn is not is in the running and will not be standing against anyone.

My defence of Corbyn is for two reasons. Firstly because of the grossly unfair way he has been treated on an entirely false basis over the anti-semitism issue, initially by the Tories seizing an opportunity when Labour refused to accept that full definition, then joined by Jewish interests and the right wing media.

Secondly I support Corbyn's policies, the correct ones for these times and adopted last Autumn by the Tories because they were so good, demonstrating Corbyn could solve large problems just as well. I couldn't care less how ineffective a political animal Corbyn is, I'm only interested in outcomes.

Returning now to my first reason, the Tories had a big Jewish problem after WW2 since they wouldn't vote for anything hinting of right wing after their suffering at the hands of the extreme right wing Nazis, so they solidly supported Labour and most continued to over the decades. That's always rankled with the Tories who have never been able to completely overcome that bias.

So Labour's refusal to accept the full UN definition of anti-semitism was manna from heaven for them, an opportunity they seized with both hands to expand into a supposedly serious anti-semitic problem which it isn't and never was. All Labour have done is stand up for their human right to criticise Israel when criticism was justified, essential for any political party who have the intention to govern the country that created the human rights act.

For them to be criticised by the EHCR is an obscenity by a body not obeying it's own ruling on that right.

you still don't see it. JC makes the point that it's a small problem - that's the problem itself. If it's small, how come he could not fix it? The only explanation is he is useless.
He still can't see it even now, 6 months after he lost his job. Would anyone give him a job?

I think that too is a parody of corbyn. Think about him and mc donnel's manifesto. I'm not sure "winners" and winning, at any cost or compromise (and we'll see how much starmer does) is integrity or a formula for a happy life
JC is not very different from DT. Both are populists. Both put up a good show at rallies but neither delivered much on their promises. Both run chaotic administrations.
Let's see what Starmer will do nearer to 2024.

As I posted, no-one can fix this 6000 year old problem which today anyway is a non-problem. Starmer won't since there's nothing of importance to fix.

Corbyn's big mistake was in acknowledging it was a problem. albeit a small one, thus confirming what his enemies were saying.

The problem didn't happen 6000 years ago. Not even 10 years ago.
It's a phenomenon of social media, people think they can post anything they like.
JC didn't do much against this form of 'freedom of expression (or exaggeration)' because he uses it himself. Starmer does not exaggerate.
Starmer does not have to do much more than JC to fix it.
He has just to make sure that the enforcers can chuck out those who think because they are not generally racists, they can post offensive remarks on websites and social media against other groups of members. In the long term, the same process will sort out islamophobia and racism. Twitter and FB do that now.

I agree with your second paragraph. Molehills and mountains come to mind.. For people who want to be offended, there are plenty of grievances. Talking of which Robert Fisk died today, a thoroughly honourable English man , who was well able to write about real grievances.

still Trump's America Wednesday.

Biden's will be from Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
And even that, though likely, is very far from certain.

What an absurd system. It'll probably take the best part of 4 years to undo the damage done by Trump between tomorrow and the end of January.

DT is a xenophobic populist that parasites on division, hatred - JC was the victim of a tory party/boris that did and does that, with brexit and after.

JC is a victim of his own doing.
He divided Labour on brexit.
He lets his spads interfere with those he put in charge of investigating anti-semitism.

I follow a few USA anarchists in dark places on the internet. Every one of them is planning a post election riot. Not one has mentioned maybe a celebration party if Biden wins. Are they all sure that Trump will win or are they going to riot whoever wins?

And you don't feel it your civic duty to tell the FBI?.

Below is a typical response in the comments section of the DM regarding mass testing of residents in the entire city of Liverpool. This isn’t an isolated message, it sets the mood amongst DM readers, and it’s quite sad.

“I urge everyone not to submit to testing. The PM himself admitted that the tests are only 7% accurate. They are seeking your data and DNA. This is getting sinisty”

How can any government hope to make headway against coronavirus when it’s citizens are so stupid? I think this is a major factor which sets us apart from countries that have done much better than us.
