I was going to reply, but decided at this point to quote that American amendment thingy (if I could remember the number) was it the fifth?
The Fifth.

It gives you the right to refuse to answer a question if the answer might incriminate you.

Well, yes, looks like we might have known, but we only half-heartedly did an exercise. In January.

Yarl's Wood immigration removal centre held pandemic exercise in January

Operation prompts questions about how much government knew about forecast scale of Covid-19 outbreak

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/07/yarls-wood-immigration-removal-centre-held-pandemic-exercise-in-january

“It was also revealing that providers appear to have been asked to carry out more extensive pandemic planning from January onwards. This suggests that the Home Office internally knew that the pandemic was likely to worsen and spread in the UK and throws up yet more questions about who knew what, when, and why these insights did not lead to changes in other policies in other areas of Home Office work.”

Answer could well be PP.

Anyone going to install the NHS Covid app?

Do read some of the comments.

UK COVID-19 contact-tracing app data may be kept for 'research' after crisis ends, MPs told
Want to opt out of that part? No chance, says NHSX chief
By Gareth Corfield 4 May 2020 at 16:16

Britons will not be able to ask NHS admins to delete their COVID-19 contact-tracking data from government servers, digital arm NHSX's chief exec Matthew Gould admitted to MPs this afternoon.

‘We’ve prevented the death rate from being even higher’ says @Dominicraab as yet another briefing begins with raising the trophy aloft.

Replying to @campbellclaret and @DominicRaab

Raab's claim is as if the Captain of the Titanic had survived and gloated over the number of people saved by the lifeboats, while deliberately ignoring the fact that like this government he had headed at full speed into an iceberg

Channel 4 News tonight reported on the run down state of our pandemic preparedness stockpile (built in 2009) when CV struck. Hal of the stockpile was out of date, stock went missing, the NHS source supplies mainly from abroad so when pandemic struck, supplies run into troubles.

Raab keeps talking about R0 between 0.5 to 0.9
Reality is it not below 0.9. This government solves nothing. They lied, then lied some more.
Their only solution is to ask the BoE to print more money.

I also have a 8110i known as the "banana phone" which appeared in the Matrix films.
Unfortunately I can no longer find a battery for it or I would use it as well.
that phone is worth 100 quid on its own if it works and a lot more if you can refurbish the batt or find a new one that has been done already.

My Doro 6030 phone designed for 'older people' also will not support this app. (What is an app?)
controller virus app to share your data with the world data base but dont worry it will be secure just download it from the google play store for free.

i doubt it would run on older android and ios phones that are only a few years old as cant update to the latest os as the hardware no longer supports it.

The Telegraph seem to have forgotten who owns them and why

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/05/07/revealed-emailed-offer-help-turkish-t-shirt-salesman-led-ppe/
Revealed: How an email from a Turkish T-shirt salesman led to a PPE fiasco
Senior MPs demand inquiry into how mission dubbed 'Air Jenrick' went wrong after thousands of medical gowns found to be 'useless'
What is actually wrong with them?

That seems to be an important factor. Are we, possibly, applying standards unbendingly where they are "different" in some minor way rather than "bad"?

Just read further:

A government spokesman said: “While a small number of these gowns have failed tests in the UK, more have passed tests making them suitable for use in the NHS. The majority of items ordered from the private supplier are awaiting testing in the UK and Turkish warehouses.”
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/07/no-complaint-or-refund-demand-over-400000-unusable-nhs-gowns

So at least some of them haven't even arrived!

Why do I have such appalling anticipation of something awful?

VE Day: RAF jets to roar over UK to mark 75th anniversary
Boris Johnson urges nation to unite in tribute as celebrations are adapted owing to Covid-19

I can't help imagining one (or more) of the aircraft crashing during the flypast. If the government are organising it (even at arm's length through the RAF), I expect it to go wrong.

Here are your VE Day stats:

So far, Boris Johnson has created a pile of bodies big enough to fill 12.4 Olympic Sized swimming pools (assuming the average person has a volume of 62Kg. Swimming
Pool 50 x 25 x 2 metres). Or big enough to fill 694 London double decker busses (Routemaster all seated, no standing). And still they cheer for him.

Happy VE Day. Let’s celebrate and look in the opposite direction.
