Fill the kettle with liquid hydrogen and as you throw it light the spout. A small kettle wont go so high but build a big mutha, 600 ft long and well... The sky is the limit,12km or so. Only another 4.234 light years to nearest star... To be fair you were almost as near on your shed roof, you perhaps managed to shave off 0.00003 of a second off your journey. (If by some miracle the kettle then shot off at speed of light)That’s nothing. When I climb onto my shed roof and throw my kettle off it, the kettle accelerates towards the ground at 1G. When I’ve worked out how to make it accelerate at 1G in the opposite direction, my kettle will reach the speed of light in around 12 months and will have traveled 0.5 light years. So shove your Halfords light and your CRTs. I’m onto something here.
Ps Isn’t it about time Ireland developed a space programme? You lot need to get Bono up aboard one of Sir Beard’s fireworks!
In my physics lessons it was pointed out, rightly or wrongly, this implied nothing massive could accelerate through the C. Not that trans-C speeds were impossible.Moving electrons and moving humans are a bit different Danidl. Go sit in the Cyclotron and see how fast you get upto..

Our only escape from mother earth is to achieve a high percentage of C for any craft... The physics for doing so say that's impossible. Basically we are still chucking stuff out the back door to push us forward. We, ve been doing that 500 years. Height Captain Jurk attained wasn't much higher than a balloon can go. Its pointless.
Fireworks should be banned. Especially liquid hydrogen ones.
One of things I always find perplexing... If you push one end (physically) of an object there is a time delay of time needed for light to pass through object for other side to move???In my physics lessons it was pointed out, rightly or wrongly, this implied nothing massive could accelerate through the C. Not that trans-C speeds were impossible.
that is correct if we stay in the same spacetime inertial reference as on earth, at the time and place of departure. Did you watch Brian Cox's newest series on the BBC's 'universe'? In episode 4, Cox talked about the big black hole at the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Astromoners call it "Sagittarius A-Star" or Sagittarius A*. Cox created fancy graphics to illustrate what we think how it works. The main thing is, inside the black hole, spacetime doesn't exist. In episode 5, he talked about what was the universe before the big bang, an ocean of energy and cosmic strings. That's ignoring Einstens thoughts (relativistic) on it.. As body accelerates it requires ever more energy to accelerate more.. Its argued (with formula to prove?) to achieve C we would need more energy than available from our planet.
Probably that's the time to start thinking of exploring space.. Think at best our current motive efforts are agricultural, archaic. Rockets are based on Newtonian physics..equal and opposite reaction. Is that really going to get us anywhere??that is correct if we stay in the same spacetime inertial reference as on earth, at the time and place of departure. There are more and more science fact programs about neutrinos (4 types not 3) and photons, dark matter and dark energy. I reckon it won't be long before humans figure out how to move objects out of earth spacetime and back in again.
BTW, for 0.2c, relativistic effect is only 2%, = (1 − v2/c2)−1/2 = 1 - square root of (v squared/c squared)
progress is incremental.Rockets are based on Newtonian physics..equal and opposite reaction. Is that really going to get us anywhere??
Not sure I agree with that. It tends to be step changes with new technology. Piston engined planes were slowly getting faster, Typhoon Tempest about its pinnacle but then massive leaps with Jet engines.progress is incremental.
They vaccinated (booster) a record number last week.. And amongst them yours truly.Sorry about source...
'Boris took his eye off the ball': Tensions in Whitehall as sources say PM's focus on Cop26 climate summit is to blame for faltering Covid booster roll-out as ministers rip up system so millions can get jab a month early
Only around 4.5 million out of the 9.3 million eligible people in England have so far received the third dose
Sources say PM's focus on Cop26 to blame for faltering roll-out
Boris Johnson has 'taken his eye off the ball' and his energies have been consumed by preparations for the forthcoming COP26 climate conference in Glasgow.www.dailymail.co.uk
What a confused mess. If that is what Johnson manages when his eye is on COP26... And if they are only worrying about lack of booster uptake when they are millions behind...
Also, if the time from original vaccination to booster is six months, it is obvious many of us are not yet eligible.
"On the third dose, our protection will be 80% precisely."
I don't trust the daily number of new cases. Government manipulates the PCR test cycle threshold number, labs have low standard etc.Fergusson was predicting 100,000 infections per day by November. Think numbers have dropped this week.. (infections)
We already know that Immensa/Dante tests were absolutely and categorically wrong.I don't trust the daily number of new cases. Government manipulates the PCR test cycle threshold number, labs have low standard etc.

You asked:
I would like to know the Ct (Cycle Threshold) being used for PCR testing of Sars Covid at the moment and in the past.
Trust response:
Please note: the test only gives CT value if positive
During times of low prevalence (like at the moment*) a CT of <25 is positive
During times of high prevalence then <28 is positive. And we would test any sample with a CT of greater than 25 with a second test.
* June 2021.
This is grotesque. We should all be deeply concerned. The evidence has been examined, tested and a judgment made. He was found guilty. Now they want to turn the clock back, disband the “court” and get his mates to decide if he’s guilty. And then they wonder why certain sections of the public get angry and knife them. I’m not condoning that or encouraging anyone to do it, but I can see how anger and resentment builds in the minds of certain people.I see Johnson is backing Owen Paterson. Stinky-poo. As I see, the guy dun it. He should be (at least) censured and a recall petition made possible.
So, your assumption is numbers are what?I don't trust the daily number of new cases. Government manipulates the PCR test cycle threshold number, labs have low standard etc.

Zoe reckon over 88,000 at present. So, your assumption is numbers are what?
Going up, down, staying same??
100,000 daily??
I agree test results are in fact simply a guide. But a guide as to what's happening none the less.
Has this wave peaked??
the indication I trust is the number of patients currently in hospital for covid treatment. So, your assumption is numbers are what?
