But that's a ques tion of what can be done in differing societies. Try the Chinese approach here in the UK and see what happens! Londoners refused to tolerate even what little we did at the outset and openly defied the rules and the authorities, and still do.

We had the spectacle of greatly outnumbered police plaintively saying "What can we do, they are just ignoring us?"
.
I don't think that the British population are as ill disciplined and contrary as you imply. Had the situation been clearly and unambiguously presented, they would have bought in. ..This is the society which invented Quing .

flecc is viewing it with London Eyes. London is not representative of the rest of England. Generally the population is weak, overly sentimental and lacking in self discipline / control, but London takes this to a worrying level.

Mr Toad comments on Trump in the Telegraph
"These last few days in American politics have been unparalleled. No other sitting president has been hospitalised a month before a US election, as Donald Trump has been, yet Sunday evening brought some even more astonishing scenes. While undergoing treatment for Covid-19, Trump left the medical centre where he is resting to take a drive outside so he could wave to his supporters and thank them for being “great patriots”. Which other leader in the Western world would do this?...

Answer none of them are that effing selfish insecure or stupid
Your sort of person Farage eh?

I wonder whether this is one of the craziest stunts ever pulled by a politician to fake an illness to divert attention from Tax fraud, (and garner half with supporters to vote for him) or a man genuinely ill and off his head on drugs?

I’m not convinced that Trump has had Coronavirus. If he has, a mild infection with a quick recovery is the worst possible outcome. This will fuel reckless behaviour and cost more lives. Plus, not everyone has access to a team of doctors who’s collective focus is on a single patient and access to any drug, therapy and nursing care necessary.

I think he has got the virus but he is treated very quickly with a whole range of medication to suppress the symptoms.
However, the virus will mutate inside him - the monoclonal synthetic antibodies that he received will be useless against future mutations. It will be just a matter of time until he goes back to hospital.

I remain unconvinced, but, if he has it, the steroid treatment will have made him europhoric

parliament could have voted for a law compelling that mobile phones must have a Covid app, the police will arrest curfew breakers, tourism air travels suspended, wear of mask compulsory in public places, sort out test trace and isolate much sooner etc
The Chinese got their app in days and we can't do that even 9 months later.
The authorities lost control of the public very long ago in many parts of the UK, the police and even the military no longer have the ability to enforce what the public refuse to accept. Fundamentally this is true everywhere and why history had so many successful revolutions.

Well, there's a surpise. I'd never have thought of it...

NHS faces drug shortages as Brexit stockpile used in Covid crisis
NHS Provider in England said Brexit could conjure ‘perfect storm’ of problems in winter

I care very much about the medicines I (and partner) take. Mine are manufactured in the UK. But there is no information as to where the raw ingredients, incuding the active paharmaceutical ingredient, come from. I strongly suspect EU for some of them.

At the same time, EU pharmacies appear to have stopped recognising UK prescriptions. (Confirmed for France, likely Germany and elsewhere in the very near future.) So that cuts off another possible route some fo us use.

Boris not say he will make the UK largely reliant on wind farms

Lest we forget

Boris Johnson said he remembers how people used to “sneer” at wind farms, that they wouldn’t “pull the skin off a rice pudding”. *It was him, who used that exact phrase to LBC back in 2013.

Trump could be poised to turn disaster into triumph
His audacious style of leadership is exactly why supporters love him

Er no, as with your supporters
They love him (and you)
because they couldn't out think an average gnat.

Wouldn't we get more energy from hot air farms? No need for expensive offshore complexity, place them in Westminster.

I nearly fell asleep watching him deliver his speech. He was rambling on and on for half an hour.
It's all wishful thinking. 4 years education funding for all 18+ adults?

Here's an interesting bit of info I heard after the Trump resurrection show last night. Having appeared on the White House balcony yesterday waving at his disciples Trump went inside and that was that .. well not quite.
The White House press & camera team were so overwhelmed by the occasion they forgot to record it :D

Never mind, if you're the President of the United States you can do anything ... even turn back time which is what he did ! The whole thing was re-run for his camera's and he came out onto the balcony waving to nobody and no cheering, the guys a nut for sure.

He’s going to win though and ultimately it’s only the winning which counts.

Nobody remembers the loses, unless they are a sour loser and then they are remembered for all the wrong reasons. Hillary Clinton for example.

Trump is a stupid man. Whenever he speaks he comes over as being of low intelligence. For him to be in the running for re-election, that shows how appalling the alternative is. A bit like our election last year.
